ABC/MMA LLC letter to deadbeat Che Guevara at the California State Athletic Commission

By Zach Arnold | October 16, 2012

Print Friendly and PDF

To: Che Guevara, CAMO, ABC Boxing

Dear People:

The Association of Boxing Commissions Database Committee has directed me to remove the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) access to the mixed martial arts database, effective immediately.

This unprecedented step was taken in response to California’s several-years-long failure to either pay for the records and suspension service, or to direct California promoters to pay the fee.

California is the sole Athletic Commission in the United States that is grossly failing to pay the fee.

Our process for removal is as follows: Effective November 1st, CSAC commissioners, as well as CAMO representatives, will have their login access to the system removed. This will result in the inability of California to be able to access the suspension system to check athletes scheduled to compete for existing suspensions, which may result in athletes competing while under suspension.

Effective November 11th, the MMA database will no longer accept results from California or CAMO for inclusion in the database, which means California suspensions will no longer be recorded. This would in effect allow California athletes to leave the state and fight while under an active suspension.

On the above dates we will notify the office of the State of California Attorney General about these changes, as the legal repercussions are significant. We will as well contact both California and MMA media.

We have worked with every single State and Tribal Commission in the US to get fees paid, and yet remain open to working with the CSAC. The account is in deeply, deeply in arrears – the last quarter alone was $3,600.

Despite the late hour, should California be able to make arrangements for each of their events to pay the results fee going forward, we can yet forego the access-restricting process.

I understand and appreciate that the California state government is facing tremendous financial challenges at present, and recommend that the CSAC join the vast majority of regulatory bodies across the USA, and rather than pay for the service out of state funds, direct that promoters do so, as a condition for promoting an MMA event California. Cost to your office is zero.

I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience. I can of course be reached at this email address; if you wish to speak in person, my cell is [redacted].

Best,
Kirik Jenness
President, Mixed Martial Arts LLC

  1. Fluyid says:

Is this the same Kirik Jenness who for years vouched for Skip Hall?

  2. RST says:

There is something wrong with kirik.
(what is he swede or something?)

At the very least something wrong with the exclusive and effete culture the he has encouraged at mma teevee.

Alegedly it was one of the earliest places for mma enthusiessts to gather,
    which is cool.

And it was also the prototype for the twitter MMA culture that has ruined it IMO!

  3. Rich says:

He’s from South Africa I believe, which explains his apartheid-like policies and why he squashes dissent so easily and regularly on his forum. There’s nothing the guy won’t say or do for a buck, or to suck up to someone who could provide him a buck. He’s not to be trusted.

  4. Rich says:

Also keep in mind that one of Kirik’s friends and business associates is nicknamed “PayPal” because of the site’s propensity to support PayPal schemes and “fundraisers.” One fundraiser was for a close friend of Kirik, who was supposedly injured so badly by a car accident that he couldn’t work or train MMA anymore. About a month later, this “injured” friend of Kirik and Chris Palmquist started a thread bragging about the new cage his MMA school had just bought, and the guy posted pictures of himself training in this cage. When the people who donated cried foul, Kirik deleted the thread and banned members who wanted their money back.

Kirik was also chided by a federal judge about filing frivolous lawsuits against Brian Cimins, founder of Grappler’s Quest. Kirik and his friends filed meritless suits against a guy just to run up his legal costs and bankrupt him. The judge said it was the first time he saw a plaintiff endeavor to prolong proceedings.

So yeah, I find Kirik crying about being ripped off truly comical. In my opinion, he’s one of the shadiest people in the MMA business. The fact that people in the MMA community still think he’s a decent man and hold him up as one of the good guys is very telling.

  5. edub says:

I’m all for getting the full story out there, but Kirik’s BS is known to a lot of the MMA community (hell even I know about it).

Giving his letter a forum to gain sympathy from is garbage.

  6. Rich says:

What’s hilarious is someone posted a link to the on the Underground. Kirik whined that this letter “wasn’t for public consumption” and deleted the thread.

It’s funny how the roaches scatter when the lights are turned on.

    • Zach Arnold says:

Wasn’t for public consumption? His letter states that he would go to the MMA media if California didn’t cut a deal with him.

It’s amazing how many people are genuinely shocked when they find out that I am plugged into the business and have access to all kinds of letters & notes.

BTW, someone actually had their lawyer contact me this week asking to cough up a source. That was not a smart move on their part.

      • Rich says:

Zach this is no shocker. Kirik has a history of getting upset when people shine a light on what he’s doing, and he’s not above filing frivolous lawsuits to try to destroy his critics.

They’re absolute idiots who are just trying to scare you. The confidentiality of anonymous sources in the media has been upheld in court many times. All Kirik and MMA, LLC is doing is setting themselves up to pay a buttload of your legal fees.

  7. Rich says:

You have to admit that Kirik’s putting himself in a very lucrative position. He’s putting himself in the position that athletic commissions and promoters have to either give him a piece of the action, or their events “don’t count.” The Mafia would be proud.

  8. D Roy says:

You leave Kirik alone! I love him!

  9. D Roy says:

Yes, I worked with Kirik on the Fighter’s Notebook and yes, I was in charge of the MMA Gold jewelry. People complained because they thought some of the initial examples looked gay. Personally, I had no problem with the way they looked. But it didn’t work out. So what? Onto the next thing. Kirik is a great guy. Most people love him. Kids love him and he loves kids. Leave him alone.

  10. Megatherium says:

I still get admiring glances, winks, thumbs up, and sometimes even hearty pointing doubled over belly laughs whenever I wear my Locked Up gold pendant when I go out on the town. It really goes great with my burgundy mock turtleneck sweater! It’s my little good luck charm when it comes to lifting the spirits of others on a dreary autumn day like today.

David Roy should know that his product has really touched the lives of a select few mma folk in a profound way.
