« Previous Entries Next Entries »Similar Histories: UFC and WWE.
Friday, October 6th, 2006By: Luke Nicholson To some people the similarities between UFC and WWE might just be coincidence, or maybe there are small little details that separate them, and to an extent that might be true. But, the fact that these two promotions are following such a similar timeline, and given the similar personalities that run both […]

Thoughts on Kurt Angle & TNA
Monday, September 25th, 2006By Sheldon Goldberg Sheldon Goldberg is the President and co-owner of both New England Championship Wrestling and World Women’s Wrestling. He is based out of the Boston, Massachusetts area. The sad part about following pro wrestling these days is that nothing seems shocking anymore. The many deaths and tragedies that professional wrestling has endured over […]
UFC: Used For Cash?
Monday, September 25th, 2006By Dave Ditch UFC is the cool kid everybody wants to be around. Some get to be real friends, while others just want the rub of popularity. PRIDE has been looking for the rub. Kurt Angle’s reference of UFC several months ago on ECW was an attempt to get some rub. Was Kurt Angle’s inference […]
Kurt Angle heads to TNA
Sunday, September 24th, 2006Story information here. My first reaction — with Angle on TNA and Spike TV backing both TNA & UFC, the chances of Angle appearing in UFC (if he goes the MMA-and-wrestling combo route) just increased significantly. Unless, of course (as Dave Ditch pointed out to me), both Angle and TNA used UFC as nothing more […]
Kurt Angle indicates MMA is in his future
Wednesday, September 20th, 2006By Zach Arnold If you’ve been a regular reader of this site, you have read our reports (here and here) about the chances of Kurt Angle working in MMA. All signs point to Japan, the country with promoters who can offer the most money (and a country with no commission). Today, Angle released a statement […]

Did Jim Ross point the finger at K-1?
Thursday, September 7th, 2006By Zach Arnold Several years ago, WWE announcer Jim Ross used to have a weekly column on the WWE site called “The Ross Report” that became controversial for many reasons, with one of those reasons being some of the cryptic comments he made in the reports. No matter what you thought about Ross and his […]
Alleged changes in WWE’s drug testing policy
Wednesday, September 6th, 2006By Zach Arnold On Wednesday, Bryan Alvarez reported that there are changes happening with the WWE’s “Wellness” Policy (aka drug policy). Alvarez reports that wrestlers who now fail tests (and receive suspensions such as 30-day, 60-day, etc.) will continue to appear on television, but they will be working for free during the time of their […]
Dana White on Wrestling Observer Live
Monday, September 4th, 2006By Luke Nicholson Dana White joined Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Live last night, and came off better in that hour than I think Dana has come off in quite some time. The interview covered a range of topics, which didn’t include PRIDE’s foray into the United States, but they touched on Tito Ortiz, BJ […]
Kurt Angle’s future
Friday, September 1st, 2006By Zach Arnold Update: Dave Meltzer notes that Kurt Angle is now being buried by the WWE. Either this is a strange angle or else they are really concerned that he is going to work in fact for TNA. In response to a Dave Ditch article about the former Olympian’s future in the fight game, […]
Kurt Angle released by WWE
Saturday, August 26th, 2006By Luke Nicholson Yup. Your eyes are not deceiving you. WWE really did release Kurt Angle today. I just read the news myself on F4WOnline.com, so I’m still in shock. I’ll say that even though I don’t watch any WWE these days, I do know that Kurt Angle is in VERY~! rough shape these days, […]
Wrestling comedy with Paul Heyman
Tuesday, July 25th, 2006By Zach Arnold In an interview with The Sun in the UK, WWE-contracted employee Paul Heyman found himself on the defensive when discussing ECW and its future. The most laughable quote from Heyman in the interview is one that should raise eyebrows: Another thing is we don’t deny the influence of Mixed Martial Arts, which […]
