Report: UFC 94 buyrate still good, but not great
By Zach Arnold | February 18, 2009
Quote of the Day from Dave Meltzer, who initially said that early ‘trending’ indicators showed UFC 94 (Penn vs. GSP) doing blockbuster numbers:
There are other reports from those with actual knowledge of PPV numbers themselves who have said at this point the confirmed number of buys was closer to 800,000, which, if true, would be a disappointment by today’s standards.
800,000 PPV buys is still a really, really good number.

Report: UFC 97 Montreal event saved
By Zach Arnold | February 18, 2009
According to Corus Sports, Tuesday’s meeting between UFC management and the RACJ in Montreal produced a successful outcome and that the UFC 97 event will continue as scheduled in Montreal on April 19th. The same Unified Rules that UFC uses will be in place for the UFC 97 show.
The Corus Sports report indicated that UFC would be willing to give up foot stomping as a concession (if needed). The report stated that Marc Ratner and Lorenzo Fertitta met with the RACJ at 5 PM on Tuesday with Richard Renault and Denis Racicot (RACJ President). Both Fertitta and Ratner left for Europe after the meeting. If UFC 97 could not have taken place in Montreal, it would have happened at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

(Boxing) Hating the way the Nate Campbell situation played out
By Zach Arnold | February 15, 2009
Nate Campbell has had quite a boxing career this decade. Between an infamous knockout by Robbie Peden on Fox Sports Net (Barry Tompkins and Max Kellerman were priceless in calling this action), criminal charges (that were later dropped) involving accusations of punching and choking a former girlfriend, to filing for bankruptcy in 2007 after a fight against Joan Guzman was canceled, Campbell has had a colorful past in the sport. When Guzman failed to make weight for his fight against Campbell, nobody got paid and Campbell was in financial trouble.
