Really? I am not a fan of telling a grown-ass man what to do with his life, but Yoshida should call it quits now. Unless money is an issue, there is no reason for him to take more punishment or useless losses than he needs to take. The man ain’t getting any younger.

  2. BM2 says:

He made the decision after a drunk Sakuraba called him. In my books this equals an awesome decision.

  3. mattio says:

    Yoshida’s next opponent: Ross Clifton.

  4. brashleyholland says:

In all seriousness, Sakuraba or Ken Shamrock for nostalgia purposes?

I’ve always thought that if these older fighters want to keep fighting, they should only be matched up with other older fighters. Sort of like a seniors league. Like in Japan how theyve had Saku vs. Funaki vs Tamura.

I’m not saying I am/would be a big fan of these senior fights, but at least it would sort of keep an even playing field where there is less chance of them getting hurt. I mean I was really excited to see Don Frye fight when I was in Tokyo and caught Pride 34 live, but I didnt need to see him take a beating against a younger, bigger James Thompson.

I have no problem with Yoshida fighting but it should be against anyone significantly younger than him (unless they suck)…but as we all know he’ll probably get a young opponent who will beat the living crap out of him.

  6. doem says:

Back in the pride days it was rumored that Yoshida was making more money than anybody.

  7. David M says:

How old is Yoshida? 45? Do Japanese people still care about him? Will they pay to watch him fight?

  8. Big Bill Bob says:

Now that James Thompson is on the outs with most prominent or startup MMA organizations in North America, how about doing a rematch between these two. The first fight was epicly hilarious with Yoshida having to be drug back into the ring to be finished, I sense perhaps he would seek redemption if offered to him.

  9. brashleyholland says:

Isn’t there a certain other Japanese Judo gold medalist rumored to be starting an MMA career soon?

    Oldskool vs Newskool?

You talking about Satoshi Ishii? He’s going to the UFC. Him vs. Yoshida isn’t happening anytime soon.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

I still think he’ll wind up in Japan.
