Interested in Xande Ribeiro vs. Hidehiko Yoshida?

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Sengoku is teasing that this match could be booked soon. Interestingly enough, the gimmick for the match may revolve around an old “Showa” Japanese pro-wrestling match stipulation from the 1970s era — a ‘jacket match.’ Only back then, they were called Judo Jacket matches.

King Mo and his umbrella

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

The pro-wrestling gimmick assigned to him by Sengoku involves him having a ‘beautiful Japanese queen’ at his side at all times. (a King must have a queen. See? See?)

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Nikkan Sports has a report claiming that World Victory Road (the parent company of Sengoku) has signed a deal with TV-Tokyo, the smallest of the free-to-air broadcast TV networks in Japan. This network has recently aired All Japan, ZERO-ONE MAX, Cage Force, and Hustle TV shows. (Personal thought: If past history is any indication, the […]

Full event results here and here. Keep your eye on this post for videos from today’s event. Update: For a second straight […]

Sengoku 4 this weekend at Saitama Super Arena

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Amazingly quiet and little press coverage going into this weekend’s big show for World Victory Road. We know that the promotion has a show booked in Yoyogi for late September, but this weekend’s SSA event is critical for the promotion’s long-term financial health. They need to build momentum fast. Heavyweights: Yoshiki Takahashi vs. Valentijn Overeem […]
