WEC 3/26 card preview
By Zach Arnold | March 26, 2008
TV: Versus Network
Commentators: Todd Harris & Frank Mir
Tonight is red meat for the hardcores. Here’s the line-up:
- Doug “Rhino” Marshall vs. Brian Stann
- Chael Sonnen vs. Bryan Baker
- Ed Ratcliff vs. Marcus Hicks
- Steve Cantwell vs. Tim McKenzie
- Hiromitsu Miura vs. Bias Avena
- John Alessio vs. Brock Larson
- Sergio Gomez vs. Rich Crunkilton
- Ryan Stonitsch vs. Alex Serdyukov
- Chris Manuel vs. Kenji Osawa
- Logan Clark vs. Scott Harper
Make sure to get your predictions in for the fight card at MMAPredictions.com.
Also, WEC will run Arco Arena as the facility for the Jens Pulver vs. Urijah Faber fight. That’s an enormously big building to use, even if the promotion ‘shrinks’ it down to 8,000 or so seats.

9PM. Damn, looks like I’m only going to get 11 hours in at work again.
I was hoping for 14 today, but things weren’t looking all that good for it already. Hunger is the enemy.
“Tonight is red meat for the hardcores” – Well said, if I did not say so myself (jk, you said way before I did)… Always on point with reportage
Not a Bad card I’ll be tuning in since theirs probably nothing better to watch on tv. They put it on a perfect night since there’s no NCAA tourney on to pull away viewers.
Not bad, but it suffers from a lackluster ME. The Rhino has always been my least favorite WEC champion, and he’s the only one on the card.
I find it surprising they have Alessio vs. Larson as a preliminary bout when it will likely be an indicator of the number one contender.
I suspect I’m not alone hoping that the main event will be a great fight, ending with Brian wearing the belt though 😀
This IS a three hour window on Vs though, so I think there’s a good chance we’ll see a dark match.
I didn’t realize they had a three hour time slot. Thanks for the info Jeremy.
First thing I noticed is that Mir isn’t doing the post-fight interviews anymore. Good thing too, it just wasn’t his forte. He’s a very good fight commentator though. I can see him doing that long after he retires from fighting.
I wish Mir would wait til the actual end of the fight before calling it over. He gets a little excited and ahead of himself.
Some excellent matchups so far. Who is the matchmaker for WEC? Does Joe Silva do it along with UFC?
I think I might be wrong about three hours. One of the upcoming events that normally is two hours is going to be three. This one is blocked in my guide for two hours though :/
Sorry.
Jeremy, the upcoming UFC Fight Night is going to be three hours.
BigMike, I agree, Mir said Ratcliff was done twice yet he escaped both submission attempts.
