I’m still pissed that they couldn’t sign Josh Barnett. But…WTF!?!?! AKIYAMA!!?????? ….Does K-1 have another yakuza fixer at the moment?
Since his fight with Crocop in 2005, Fedor fought (or will fight) the following guys, in order:
Zulu
Coleman
Hunt
Lindland
Choi
Rizzo (rumored for April)
ugh…
In that time, CroCop, Liddell, Shogun have all dropped from the top of the heap. Rampage is now an unstoppable force at LHW. Amazing what a few years will do.
I won’t argue that Fedor isn’t as good as he is. But there is absolutely no way he should be ranked #1 until he’s tested against top competition. Anything can happen in MMA and nobody can stay undefeated for so long.
Let’s analyze his record for a minute. His legend is built upon beating Cro Cop and Nogueira. We can all admit that he’s just a bad match up for Nogueira. Nogueira was the guy who was almost knocked out by Herring and who were systematically dismantled by Cro Cop before pulling off an arm bar on a ground game-less Cro Cop. This is the same Cro Cop who found out that he couldn’t hang with the modern big men of the UFC. Don’t forget that this is the Cro Cop that took Fedor to a decision and turned his face into butta’.
Until Fedor starts fighting top competition again, he needs to drop off the rankings. Fedor has been riding his own coat tail for far too long.
