UFC 65 main event

Dave Doyle of Fox Sports drops a surprise in his Weekly Tapout column today:

But Hughes isn’t think of slowing down. Just the opposite. Coming off his gusty three-round victory over B.J. Penn at UFC 63, Hughes will fight on less than two months’ turnaround when he puts his belt on the line against Georges St. Pierre at UFC 65 on Nov. 18 at Arco Arena in Sacramento.

  1. Ivan Trembow says:

Not to toot my own web site’s horn, but this already listed on MMAWeekly’s Rumors page the day after UFC 63.

  2. Erin says:

So I assume this means that Sac is confirmed? And I get to see GSP fight Hughes live? Woot!

  3. soulrise says:

Yeah the part about fighting GSP in November isn’t new, but when was it announced that 65 would be at the Arco Arena? I haven’t seen it posted anywhere besides MMAWeekly and that includes the Arco Arena’s website itself…

  4. Luke says:

Good news. Glad to see UFC running different markets. GSP-Hughes should be fantastic.

  5. HijoDelOso says:

The timing makes sense as Dec has Chxck/Tito 2. I don’t expect cardio to be a factor in GSP/Matt 2.

  6. rabies says:

Has Dana, himself, confirmed the event being in Sac? I have not read or heard any confirmation from the UFC, Dana, the fighters, not even from Dave Meltzer.

  7. Ivan Trembow says:

It was reported by the Boston Herald, which is an advertising partner of the UFC’s and gets a lot of exclusive scoops like that.
