Brock Lesnar update
By Zach Arnold | August 3, 2006

By Zach Arnold
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported on Thursday that Brock Lesnar is continuing to train for MMA.
Former Gophers NCAA heavyweight wrestling champion Brock Lesnar has been vigorously training near his home in Independence for an “ultimate fighting” match in October in Las Vegas. Former heavyweight boxer Scott LeDoux is training Lesnar, a former professional wrestler, for boxing, and Lesnar also has a mentor to help him improve his kicking skills.
If you recognize the name Scott LeDoux, you may remember him as a color commentator from ESPN2’s boxing shows. If you’re an old-time wrestling fan, you’ll certainly remember his name. He was the local Minneapolis boxer that Verne Gagne booked against Larry Zybysko for the WrestleRock Rumble show at the MetroDome in 1986.

Scott Ledoux also did some wrestling as a WRESTLER in the AWA and later predominantly became the special “enforcer” referee with this size, strength, boxning skills and newly gained “wrestling skills”…as least, thats what the AWA used to say.
I hope Brock gets his ass handed to him.
T.R!
Lesnar should train with the Militech team. I think that would be a good start for him with his wrestling background and strength.
“Ultimate” fighting” match in October, in Las Vegas? Did I miss an article where Brock Lesner signed with Pride or UFC, or is K-1 holding a show there in October too? That would be strange, would this be the first time K-1 held a MMA bout on one of their Las Vegas shows?
There are supposedly three shows in Las Vegas scheduled: UFC (which we know of for certain), PRIDE (we’ll see about that), and the WFA (which is just a rumor right now).
What gives?…I just looked it up and there is NO K-1 event in October in Las Vegas…There is a UFC Event Oct 14th, a PRIDE event on Oct 21st and a King Of The Cage event on Oct 28th…
So it’s either Pride or UFC…HMMMMM wtf??!?!?
Fedor????…No way!…Hmmmmm
You may have just inadvertently broken a major story here…
The rumor mill on this guy is wild. I just read a week ago that he was signed with the IFL. This may all be a ploy to build up another big HW name in the US.

Pat Miletich confirms Lesnar is training at MFS
Wow. This could be interesting. Here’s a thought: if he is w/ Miletich then fighitng in UFC doesn’t make sense because Sylvia is the champ. There is no way to avoid them fighting each other. Does that mean Pride or WFA? Now if I were Dana White and Lesnar turned out to be good to great at MMA I’d rather have him in my company than Sylvia. Lesnar is much more marketable than big Tim. Too bad he got that goofy looking Aryan Brotherhood style tatoo of a sword on his chest though.
Lesner is spending some time with MFS, but he is not a member. He is training mostly with Sean Sherk’s camp.
Teddy Atlas recently mentioned on air that Scott LeDoux was made Minnesota State boxing commissioner. I looked it up: (http://www.abcnewspapers.com/2006/July/31scottledoux.html)
LeDoux was also a pretty decent heavyweight boxer as I recall. In any case, he’ll help Lesnar with his punching, but martial arts, etc. is not something you learn in a few weeks.
My guess is that Lesnar will try to use his power moves to outdo whomever he faces.
He will have a long uphill battle to prove that he is not just a pro wrestler who has blown up his bridges (quitting WWE, ditching New Japan, etc.).
Any idea on who his first opponent will be?
I really want to see him fight Kazuyuki Fujita…he jobbed to Lesnar to give up the NJPW belt when he was going back to real fighting…that’d be something to see.
Probably LeDoux’s biggest high profile fight of his career was Larry Holmes one sided beating of him for the World Heavyweight Championship. That and George Foreman beating him up as well as drawing with Ken Norton (and Leon Spinks, though really it wasn’t a great achievement after watching Spinks quick descent into obscurity following his rematch loss to career end Ali). The two Duane Bobick losses may count as ‘big’ fights as well, considering Bobick was being protected as the next Great White Hope of the time (before being blasted into nothingness by Ken Norton and slipping fast afterwards).
Brock is huge, fast, powerful and in great shape. do you see any heavyweight that could keep up with that kind of power and strength, thats matched with his speed and stamina? i don’t think so. His lack of mma technique will be his only down fall. Other than that i see a monster in the making.
Coleman, Randleman, Severn made it, and Severn wasn’t even much of a striker from the start … then again it is a different sport than it was in the early 1990s.
