The future of Xyience

By Zach Arnold | August 2, 2006

By Zach Arnold

Xyience, which is the main sponsor of UFC telecasts (and has sponsorship deals with several fighters), may be facing some financial problems (according to a report on F4W).

In what could end up being a huge story, the word in Las Vegas the last few days is that there may be major problems with Xyience, once of UFC’s biggest sponsors. Allegedly, people are being laid off left and right.

If the report is true, it would certainly cause some headaches for UFC. It may also cause headaches for WPT Enterprises, Inc., the company that runs the World Poker Tour shows. According to WPT (in a press release issued on Thursday), they have reached a sponsorship agreement with Xyience:

The Company also finalized a sponsorship agreement with Xyience, Inc. during the second quarter of 2006 to promote its product as the “official energy drink” of Season V and Season VI of the World Poker Tour. The Company will recognize revenues from this agreement when the programs are broadcast beginning in 2007.

  1. July says:

Xyience sucks anyway. Thier products are placebos and only ill-informed viewers of Spike Tv and ufc would buy thier garbage only because of thier crappy advertising.

  2. July is a bitch... says:

I believe they have partnered with a Venture Capital firm, and the ‘lay-offs’ are a result of what usually happens when a VC firm gets involved. VC firms often come in and replace key employees with their own, slash executive pay and streamline the business model. When a firm comes in with significant money, as is the case with Xyience, they want to protect their investment and the investment of the underlying share holders with their firm.

“July” must not have a clue about product formulation in this industry. There are several companies out there filling their products with garbage, I agree- Xyience just isn’t one of them. Time will show his ignorance is misguided.

    Take care.

  3. Drew says:

I know the cost of a box of their X-Star bars has dropped from $39 or so to $15, at least on some sites such as allstarhealth.com . That cannot be a good sign.

  4. August is swell says:

I love Xyience’s products. I take 3 of theirs for the past 16 months with great results. Every company fires people. sometime it is because they do not perform or they are excess to the company or other reasons. Maybe the disgruntled former employee spreading false rumors to the news that something is bad going on at the company. This is very common.
What I hear the company is doing very well and in fact July has never been better than in terms of sales. They are coming to every chain stores, health clubs and convenient stores in the country in the coming months.
