Major speech coming on Monday

By Zach Arnold | July 7, 2006

Print Friendly and PDF

By Zach Arnold

Bob Sapp will be making a big appearance at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan on Monday to address the media as to what happened between him and K-1. The press conference (Bob Sapp and attorney Michael Connette) will last one hour (10:30 AM-11:30 AM). (Hat tip: Gryphon.)

Update: Shukan Gendai, the magazine that had a negative campaign against PRIDE with allegations of yakuza connections, has a minor article coming up in Monday’s magazine about Bob Sapp and PRIDE (with the word “boryokudan” — yakuza — being used).

  1. Wes Black says:

You guys do realize that Shukan Gendai is a rag, right? What’s next, using the National Enquirer for news on the UFC and ZUFFA…

  2. PizzaChef says:

We know Gendai is a rag, but it was one of the reasons why PRIDE lost their TV money. 😛

  3. Zach Arnold says:

It’s a “rag” owned by one of the largest publishers around (Kodansha) with some power behind it, enough so that Fuji TV got rid of PRIDE before their stockholders meeting because they didn’t want to have to bother answering a flood of questions about it. And yet even after getting rid of PRIDE, they still faced questions on it.

  4. Wes Black says:

You know that the Gendai story isn’t the reason behind Fuji dropping Pride, more of an excuse for them to if anything. Your one-sided stories on this wouldn’t have anything to do with a failed attempt at getting a job with DSE’s American office, would it?

  5. Zach Arnold says:

Thanks for leaving your calling card. It’ll be useful in the future.
