Kurt Angle released by WWE
By Luke | August 26, 2006
Yup. Your eyes are not deceiving you. WWE really did release Kurt Angle today. I just read the news myself on F4WOnline.com, so I’m still in shock.
I’ll say that even though I don’t watch any WWE these days, I do know that Kurt Angle is in VERY~! rough shape these days, due to working an insane schedule on an injured, broken body that needs time off.
Some of the punishment and suffering he’s subjected himself to over the years could’ve been avoided if he had gone through with the traditional neck surgery back in 2003, instead of the Dr. Jho surgery, which allowed to return faster, but was much riskier.
As some readers here probably know, Kurt Angle was an Olympic Gold Medallist in ’96 in Atlanta, and he won the Gold medal on a broken neck. Kurt Angle is popular among MMA internet fans because of his legit amateur wrestling background, and Olympic performance.

The Ultimate Fighter Season 4, Episode 2.
By Erin | August 25, 2006
Normally, this would go up on my old site MMA Snark, but due to a lack of maintaining the site on my part, I chose to let the website expire and subject poor Zach to dealing with my weirdness.
So, here you go.

UFC hype machine on Spike TV
By Zach Arnold | August 25, 2006
By Zach Arnold
Tonight on Spike TV, UFC had the weigh-ins for tomorrow’s fight with Chuck Liddell and Renato “Babalu” Sobral. Weigh-in stats here. More interestingly, the show announced that Tito Ortiz would face Ken Shamrock on Spike TV for October 10th at the Hard Rock Casino in Florida. Press release here. Ortiz had a four-star performance in working over the crowd in his interview with Joe Rogan. There were certainly many people in attendance to watch the hype session.
After the weigh-ins show, they aired the UFC All Access show for Renato Babalu. The show was hosted by Rachelle Leah. This was a very good show in building up Babalu’s credibility by showing training footage and trying to hype up his fight resume. On the TV show, they showed Babalu running up the Paineiras mountain and then later on, doing yoga.
Too bad nobody brings up Babalu’s Japanese fights (especially in RINGS), because those were fun to watch.
Here’s the latest media round-up:
- Washington Post: Liddell predicts a knockout of Sobral
- Calgary Sun: Liddell may be upstaged
- Long Beach Press-Telegram: An interview with Big John McCarthy
- BlogCritics: Review of The Ultimate Fighter 4: Episode 2
- Houston Chronicle: Compelling rematches head UFC 62
- San Luis Obispo Tribune: Liddell hopes for same result four years later

UFC 62 Preview
By Stephan | August 24, 2006
Most people think this card is not particularly interesting and say they will give it a pass (not buy the PPV), we shall see. It is not a very strong card. The main event Babalu vs Liddell may be the only reason to get this PPV, but keep in mind that sometimes uninteresting cards do surprise us. It must the card with the most newcomers to UFC that I have ever seen (okay UFC1!)!

By Zach Arnold

Update: It appears that BJ Penn will replace St. Pierre in the 9/23 fight against Hughes.
