Fallout from Cage Rage 25 event

By Zach Arnold | March 13, 2008

Written by Adam Underhill

At long last the dust has ultimately settled from the sudden collision of Heavyweight rivals and veteran fighters that the nation witnessed this past Saturday night in London, England. Cage Rage presented yet another flourishing evening of mixed martial arts action to a sell-out crowd at the Wembley Arena with little disappointment. Regarded by many as Britain’s top mixed martial arts organisation, in association with ProElite Inc., Cage Rage offered its twenty-fifth event to the apprehensive residents of London with eleven extremely fast-paced and remarkable bouts. Using Matt Lindland To Break New York

By Iain Liddle | March 12, 2008

Despite his status as a former Olympic medallist and the fact that he is widely regarded top five middleweight in the sport, the UFC appears to have no interest in recalling Matt Lindland to compete in their octagon. They seem to have no such qualms though in using his pedigree as a competitor to reflect beneficially on themselves.

Fight Opinion Radio #78: Oleg Taktarov & Jeremy Lappen

By Zach Arnold | March 10, 2008

This week, we have two special interviews for you. First, we have an interview with Elite XC matchmaker Jeremy Lappen. Jeremy stops by to talk about the new EXC/CBS deal and clarifies or disproves some of the rumors floating on the Internet about the business aspects of the new relationship. Second, we have an interview with Oleg Taktarov. Oleg stops by to talk about his upcoming Yamma Pit Fighting match against Don Frye and to tell the full story about how he got lost in Africa. Plus, his thoughts on why the pioneers of MMA still appeal to the fans today and why some of the newer MMA fighters are boring to him.

To close out the show, Judge Jeff Thaler makes his return to discuss yet another wacky MMA-related legal situation. On the docket this week is the situation regarding Fightlinker’s now-famous parody about Luke Cummo failing a drug test in Ohio due to too much caffeine intake. On what possible grounds could anyone go after Fightlinker legally for the parody? Judge Jeff breaks down this amusing situation for you.

The 78th edition of Fight Opinion Radio is now online and available to download. Download this week’s show here.

By Zach Arnold | March 9, 2008

Written by Adam Underhill

SLAMM!! “Nederland vs. Thailand IV”
IN ASSOCIATION WITH M-1 GLOBAL
02/03/08 START 13:00

In the small ever-developing borough of Almere, thousands of fight fans from across the world attended the Topsportcentrum in the desolate lands of this uninhabited Dutch town, to watch the biggest show on the kick-boxing calendar in the Netherlands. Holland’s biggest fight promotion ‘SLAMM!!’ held their fourth instalment of their ‘Nederland vs. Thailand’ series alongside upstart MMA promotion M-1 Global in what would be an arduous ten-hour marathon of mixed martial arts and kick-boxing action. The majority of the card was occupied by the Dutch regulars and the top Muay Thai boxers from Thailand, while the M-1 portion contained fighters from all over the Continent in what would be the inaugural ‘M-1 Challenge’ series of events. We certainly received our money’s worth, if you’re counting Euros or dollars per fight, that’s for sure!
