  1. The Daddy Is The Mami says:

Marquardt will struggle against Rumble. Rumble will be too big and too strong. The weight cut will deplete Nate.

Only one fight I care about on the TUF card…. And that is the main event. It’s a good test to see if Pettis is UFC level and worthy of a title shot. I know beating Guida shouldn’t earn one a title shot, but it’s at least somesort of gauge.

I’m interested in 7 of the fights on the Versus card.

Marquardt/Johnson should be a solid Welterweight fight. Kongo/Barry & Kampmann/Howard are both interesting style match-up.

Mitrione/Morecraft should be a Heavyweight Barnburner.

The Griffin & Stevenson fights are purely interesting because we get to see how they do at Featherweight and if they can resurrect their careers.

Lastly, Lentz/Oliveira is an interesting fight. Lentz is still undefeated in the UFC and plays such a conservative game. Oliveira is the complete opposite of him and that he is extremely risky and wild in his fighting style. I’m interested in seeing how Lentz can do against such a fighter.

If I’m looking at these two cards…. It adds fuel to rumors that the UFC is headed towards Versus once their SpikeTV contract is up.

    • Mr. Roadblock says:

I’d like to see Petis (if he wins this fight) go against Gilbert Melendez. Then the winner could fight the Edgar/Maynard winner and we’d know who the best at 155 is.

Perfect world yes. During that time frame if Guillard beats Roller he could take on the Henderson-Miller winner for the next shot at the title after.

  3. edub says:

Yep. The Versus card has plenty more good fights.

    • smoogy says:

Some evenly matched fights, but man… if there is any message to be sent to Versus here, it’s that they’re going to get the absolute dregs of UFC’s TV product. Of the 22 fighters on the card, 7 are coming off a win.

      • edub says:

Obviously they are coming off losses, but I still think a lot of the guys coming off losses hold name recognition. Joe Stevenson and Tyson Griffin still have name value, and both have the “new weightclass” aura going for them. Javier Vasquez still holds some value. Kampman has arguably won his last two fights and got screwed (I believe he beat Diego, not Shields). Lauzon still holds name value. Kongo still looks like the first black spartan.

I think this is a pretty stacked card for cable TV.
