K-1 2010 Dynamite 12/31 Saitama Super Arena
By Zach Arnold | November 19, 2010
It’s their 10th anniversary NYE show. (First one was an Inoki production on 12/31/00 at the Osaka Dome.)
One match announced today and that’s Bibiano Fernandes vs. Hiroyuki Takaya for the DREAM Featherweight belt. Also scheduled for the show is: Shin’ya Aoki, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto, Hideo Tokoro, Kazushi Sakuraba, Jason “Mayhem” Miller, and perhaps Alistair Overeem. Themes for the card will include DREAM vs. K-1 (grapplers vs. strikers) and DREAM vs. Strikeforce. No mention of Michihiro Omigawa.

All of those fighters make sense.
Feel bad for Kazushi Sakuraba. The man needs to retire.
I think he does retire and then when they need to him to fight, they show him a highlight of himself and then put stacks of yen in front of him and bow.
His honor leaves him no choice.
I’ve always wondered why Sakuraba doesn’t just do say grappling fights? Granted he’s getting up there in the years and can’t take any more punishment but I’m willing to bet he can still roll with the best of them and do fairly well in say the ADCCs or something of that nature.
I remember hearing rumors years ago that Saku had spent most of what he made and that Takada Dojo had taken way more than a fair share too.
Is there still a Takada Dojo, or is it more of a Hammer House now?
I wish they’d do a big retirement ceremony for Sak like last years one for Masato. Send him into the sunset.
But this is FEG and they’ll probably have him fight Allistar.
In a K-1 striking rules match none the less.
Last I heard Omigawa was on his way to UFC. Good move.
