Faber getting injured hurt this card. Not like there was much doubt on who would win the 2 big fights on this card.
The Jorgensen fight is interesting.
The next WEC card is much much better.
This one will still be a great show without Faber.
Every WEC seems to outshine the UFC cards for skill + action. I don’t know who half of the guys are since the divisions are so new yet the fights are captivating.
WEC is mainly lacking in star power, audience buzz, and crippling KO power.
Why is Javier Vazquez on the unaired undercard while a bunch of journeymen make TV? Main event is sorta interesting and that’s it.
Gotta agree.
Why in the world is Micklewright vs. Palawsusfnaiodfhawski on the main card!?
That fight confuses me most. Like, okay, one guy is a prospect – But isn’t Semerzier? I’m not watching some MMA show so that in case the fight I really want to see ends early, I might get to see it. Instead, we get Cub Swanson. does anyone really care about seeing that guy fight?
And on top of that the prospect(Micklewright) is in a division that while being exciting is obviously not on par with the UFC or even SF.
I’m actually getting more angry thinking about this. Vasquez vs. Semerzier is definately a main card fight.
People I’m rooting for, more than who I predict to win (predicting WEC cards is difficult due to newcomers/unknowns):
Benavidez, Roller, Mendes, Pickett, Mickelwright
Zach Micklewright via decision
Scott Jorgensen via decision
Cub Swanson via tko
Anthony Pettis via submission
Dominick Cruz via decision
Damn Cub with the big time upset eh…
big time upset? that’s a stretch since really the only way chad wins that fight is by a lnp decision win. I decided to go with my heart and choose the cub tko win even though my head says it will be a decision win for mendes.
Well those are some valid points, but I was speaking more towards the betting lines. Most sites I have seen Mendes is a huge favorite. Also everytime Cub has had a chance to shine against a big name(Mendes obviously isn’t a big name yet, but huge prospect) he has wilted under the bright lights.
And a great performance by Vasquez that we might not get to see.
I’m recording this show in case Showtime actually makes TV. Otherwise I might just skip it entirely and just watch the title bout.
Pettis looked like a star in the making.
Stuffed every shot Roller attempted (even took him down a couple of times), landed a couple of flashy Capoeira kicks (one of which hurt Roller badly), and then finished him off with a lightning fast triangle in the final seconds of the fight.
He’s a lot like Donald Cerrone, except he seems to be improving by leaps and bounds every time he fights while Cerrone is basically the same guy he has always been.
I can’t wait for Smooth versus Showtime.
