  1. cutch says:

Rampage said he’s coming back to see out his contract.

  2. Mark says:

Now there’s a shocker. Dana overreacts about “I’M DONE WITH YOU FOREVER! FOREVER! FOREVER! FOREVER! FOREVER! FOREVER! FOREVER! (/Terry Funk)” and he announces his intentions to fight again at the same time he would have anyway if he just did A-Team without Dana cutting promos. Good. Hopefully for the UFC’s sake they’re ready to fight on the GSP/Hardy show because that needs all the help it can get.

  3. Ultimo Santa says:

    Odd comment by 45.

I don’t think this forum is, or ever was, populated by a bunch of “UFC haters”.

It just seems like there are two camps:

    1. People who worship Dana White like he’s a religious icon, and pray for the destruction of any non-UFC entity (I would loosely associate 45 with this camp)

    2. People who think that yes, UFC does make mistakes periodically, but watch it and enjoy it – but who ALSO watch Strikeforce, Dream, and other promotions because they know that competition can only strengthen the sport (I would associate most thoughtful F.O. posters with this camp)

  4. A. Taveras says:

Didn’t I see shrek’s little bro wig out and attack one of the other contestants? I thought that was more serious than Marcus’ outburst. And I would guess Marcus ‘big baby’ Jones’ outburst was more calculated than the Rashad/Rampage …after all he had to find some way to go from big baby to ‘the darkness’. Mitrione kept his cool, and again a guy who I think was much more calculating than the coaches. I think it’s evident to Rashad and rampage they are supposed to play up their dislike and so they do, but it has seeds in genuine dislike as they are very different guys.

  5. Alan Conceicao says:

Rampage said he’s coming back to see out his contract.

I wonder if he got any early Christmas gifts to do it? Its not original, sure, but its not new either. I hear CHACK has quite a few nice whips he didn’t pay for.

  6. A. Taveras says:

Also want to echo comment 53. I’ve been coming here 4-5 months and comment sparingly but would not characterize the regulars as ‘UFC haters’. If anything I like that many commenters here are informed and skeptical of promoters, period. 45H has interesting perspectives but definitely a guy who is very strident about being pro-UFC. It grates on others and makes him an a target the point where he has made the site un-enjoyable for himself. The thing is he seems to like being a target so not sure why he is threatening to leave?

  7. If you guys really drove off 45 Huddle, I am going to be so furious.

  8. Zack says:

If I’m in my forties calling people haters, someone please put me out of my misery.

  9. GassedOut says:

I’ve been coming here for a couple of years now. I really don’t mind 45, I just don’t agree with him often. As for the “abuse” he likely feels he has received, he’s brought a lot of it on himself.

I tend to agree with Ultimo’s comments (53) above. Most thoughtful posters here are not anti-UFC. They watch the UFC and enjoy the fights. I do also. But we’ve watched Dream, Sengoku, K1, Pride, Cage Rage, Stikeforce and the like with the same enjoyment and think that competiton is good for the sport, because it is.

  10. Zack says:

“If you guys really drove off 45 Huddle, I am going to be so furious.”

LOL @ his pathetic attention grab attempt. Dude has obviously watching too much reality TV where there’s always some chick who cries that shes leaving the show, only to have some other retard talk her into staying.

  11. Fluyid says:

It’s not like “45 Huddle” is some assigned name. One of you guys need to fill that in as your name when you post here.

    Problem solved.

Actually, 45, if you’re reading this, come on back. Anyone can get bothered from time to time. Probably everyone who posts here would admit to it, except me. I’m perfect.

  12. Fluyid says:

ESPN just reported that Pacquiao vs. Mayweather is on for March 13.

I’m going to predict Mayweather by clear-cut decision. Any predictions or statements I’ve made to the contrary are hereby rescinded.

  13. Mark says:

And the LA Times reported Manny wants a 60-40 split of the purse which obviously didn’t sit well with Floyd so who knows who is telling the truth. For me I’m not going to believe it until I see the contract signing and still hold my breath that someone doesn’t back out before fight time.

As for 45, nobody drove him out. Unless this is another side of his troll gimmick he just takes the internet far too seriously. Who gives a crap that somebody you don’t know online said you were stupid.

But anyway, if you still want the Zuffaologist perspective there’s still quite a few of those guys left. But at least they aren’t a shrill. Which is amazing when you come off as shrill in the written form.

  14. klown says:

I want 45 to come back too. It’s no fun without him to argue against.

  15. Mark says:

Yeah, rational pro-UFC posters like Roadblock who offer a solid reasoning behind their opinions isn’t nearly as fun to argue against as crazy nonsensical hyperbole. But I have a feeling somebody will pull a “New Diesel” soon.

  16. Fluyid says:

“Five-weight world champion Manny Pacquiao and unbeaten American Floyd Mayweather are set to meet on 13 March, according to the Filipino’s promoter.

Michael Koncz, who is in charge of Pacquaio’s promotional company, says the 30-year-old has agreed to a March proposal from promoter Bob Arum.”

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/8395968.stm

  17. David M says:

“Anyone who fucking buys the fucking boxing ppv is a fucking moron. Floyd is going to fucking run around like a fucking dumbass for 12 fucking rounds and you arent going to get your fucking money worth. Come watch UFC 110 that night instead, Pat Miletich and Sean Sherk are fighting in the main event, 2 former UFC champions, 2 fucking legends, and they’re gonna fucking bang.”

  18. smoogy says:

UFC officials have been informed of 45 Huddle’s sudden retirement, and are currently in negotiations with renowned shill MMALOGIC to take over his FightOpinion.com territory.

Seriously though, what are people smoking when it comes to this NBC/Comcast/Versus thing? Versus is going to transform overnight into a major competitor to ESPN, with MMA as part of its flagship programming? It seems like a lot of wishful thinking at best.

  19. Mark says:

Since 45 was so predictable you know exactly what he’d say about the fight: it will get a huge buyrate but it won’t count because it’s a one-time event that no new stars will be created from since both guys are likely to retire after the fight.

Seriously though, what are people smoking when it comes to this NBC/Comcast/Versus thing? Versus is going to transform overnight into a major competitor to ESPN, with MMA as part of its flagship programming? It seems like a lot of wishful thinking at best.

And especially because we’re talking about Monday Night Football that gets upwards of 11 million viewers versus WEC which can’t even get 1 million viewers. Major League Baseball gets double the ratings of NHL games. NASCAR versus Formula-1. World Series of Poker versus Jean Claude Van Damme movies. World Bowling League versus bikni bowling. College football versus bull riding. Sportscenter versus Sports Soup. It’s hilarious that the same people who browbeat other MMA promotions for trying to compete with UFC think Versus needs to compete with ESPN.

  20. Mark says:

Also, Meltzer is back to being pessimistic about Brock’s return (on the new audio update about the death of Eddie “Umaga” Fatu.) He’s now saying he’s probably not going to fight in 2010 at all and going back to the “he may never fight again” line from last month.

  21. Jeremy (not that Jeremy) says:

Comcast has no business owning the sports channels that they do, let alone owning a broadcast network. Hopefully this will not happen.

    ===

Kimbo weighed in at 212. That was surprising to me. I was originally surprised that UFC would give him another lower-weight fighter as an opponent, but maybe Kimbo just intends to move to 205 at this point and hasn’t quite gotten his weight down enough (hint: shave the beard, it’s got to be two pounds).

Kimbo at LHW? It’s the fire or the frying pan.

  22. The Gaijin says:

“UFC officials have been informed of 45 Huddle’s sudden retirement, and are currently in negotiations with renowned shill MMALOGIC to take over his FightOpinion.com territory.”

At least Zach doesn’t show some odd sort of deference/inflated respect to 45 like the BE guys seem to show for mmalogic. It’s honestly a little weird.

  23. Mark says:

Kimbo at 205 makes more sense than Kimbo at Heavyweight if they just plan to use him for 3 high profile fights until the well runs dry. He gets murdered by every big name Heavyweight but he can fight Couture, Ortiz, Coleman or even Liddell which gives him slightly better odds of winning and that way they won’t have to pretend like he’s a legit contender at anything beyond scrapping with 2 geezers, the dancin’ machine and a suitcase pimp. Then they fire him and bury him when he goes to Strikeforce or Japan as not being able to beat old people, but he proves them wrong by knocking out Herschal Walker. Then he retires from MMA and gets hired to be War Machine’s bodyguard to protect him from the much feared porn agents of Las Vegas.

  24. Fluyid says:

If Kimbo wins, he becomes Liddell’s next opponent. That’s my prediction, anyway. They may try it even if he loses.

  25. The Gaijin says:

*I should say some of the BE guys. There’s certainly some who don’t have the time for him.

  26. Mark says:

There are some there who realize they’re just writers and know their place. There are some who believe they’re writing the definitive MMA Gospel and those are the ones who believe a maybe sorta not really Zuffa temp independent contractor custodian advertiser and otherwise miscellaneous employee validates their online importance. All he is probably is just a low level employee who hears some stuff through the grapevine like those in the pro wrestling industry who talk to the dirt sheets. And that’s at best. Likely he’s just working them entirely or just fixes the UFC office air conditioner twice a summer.

But his credibility has been shot since he announced Fedor had agreed to sign and then he goes to Strikeforce days later. He also announced Affliction was going to close 6 months before it did, HBO was going to cut ties with Golden Boy, and Cung Le was waiting out his Strikeforce deal to sign with UFC in 2009. BE should make him prove he is who he is or at least demand a correct prediction because they look ridiculous promoting some guy with a 20% correct prediction rating.

  27. Jeremy (not that Jeremy) says:

45’s never claimed to have any connection to UFC or Zuffa aside from being the kind of person who likes to watch their events, used to routinely pay for them, and is willing to talk about them in places where people are likely to target him for either what he says or how he says it.

  28. Fluyid says:

The only guy that I’ve seen on here try to act like he has some sort of inside connection with Zuffa is a guy who signed his post, “Jonathon,” or something like that.

  29. Croatian Strength says:

Yes, the K1 finals was a great show, especially with the Alistair vs K1 storyline playing out.
When did Semmy get so fun to watch?

  30. David M says:

Badr Hari was knocked unconscious by a gust of wind on his way to the airport this morning.

  31. Alan Conceicao says:

Semmy’s gonna be good when people come to him to be knocked out. He does the job. I’ve said since the 16 that I thought Semmy was gonna clear house, and he has. He may have another couple of tournament wins in him.

Also watched the MFC show from last night earlier today. They win the inaugural “Strikeforce Award For Promotion that Is Credited For Being Mediocre But Profitable” for 2009. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a single card the promotion’s done. Don’t know why. I want to like the fights and I appreciate that someone is giving some of these guys halfway relevant fights, but the matchmaking seems scatter shot. Leites/Lister had “boring” written all over it; Why do that fight? Both are interesting when positioned against guys who are the antithesis of what they do, not when against mirror images. It turned into a festival of Lister pulling guard. Jimmo/Newton was also absolutely terrible to watch. I don’t mind watching a fight like Art Santore/Bryan Baker on this level as much as I do the UFC; there’s no pretense when you see a clearly minor league event like this that its a “super bowl of MMA”. It was an interesting action fight, and as a guy who personally always liked Art Santore’s style and charisma, it was exciting to see him fighting in a competitive fight at this level again.

  32. spacedog says:

Can someone please explain why K-1 does not have more weight classes. Gokan looked to be a good fighter but they threw him in there with a guy twice is size. I don’t get it. It’s the same thing they do with MM, a natural MW, whom is regularly matched up with guys two weight classes above him. Is there another circuit for these guys or are the Japanese just nuts?

    Sergei looked lost in there.

overeem needs to stop using the clinch to throw guys around and work on his movement.

Finally whats the rule on knock downs? Is it three in one round loses it for you? Why did the JLB and Overeem fights end after two knock downs?

  33. Alan Conceicao says:

Two in a round during tourneys, three in a round during superfights.

  34. Jeremy (not that Jeremy) says:

Ok, I rarely do this, but the Houston/Kimbo decision…total shit.

  35. Jeremy (not that Jeremy) says:

And all three of the Sherdog folk called it for Kimbo. I’m shocked.

  36. Chuck says:

That Alexander/Kimbo fight was awful. I missed most of the first round, but I guess I can’t really disagree with a 29-28ish score for Kimbo Slice. Slice absolutely dominated the second round. It was almsot a 10-8 round. So the fight was, at the very least, a draw.

On the other hand. the Paul Williams/Sergio Martinez fight on HBO has been a pretty awesome fight. Not quite fight of the year, but still very good. Even Cris Arreola vs. Brian Minto below it was pretty good too.

  37. Chuck says:

Sorry to double post, but I gave the third round to Alexander. If I gave the first round to Alexander 10-9, and the rest of the fight as I said, I would have it 28-28 a draw. But the judge who had it 30-27 Kimbo was absolute shit. I had no problem 29-28 either way.

  38. Body_Shots says:

It’s time to stop Steve from reffing, this guy is absolutely terrible.

  39. Alan Conceicao says:

I only watched the HBO card. Can’t say I’m bitter about that choice either. Great main event. I seriously hope there’s a rematch; put it on the undercard of Pacquiao/Mayweather, and make it for the 154lb straps they have.

Kimbo winning means we get Kimbo/a big star (like Liddell) to headline a PPV. I think I’ll find something else to do that night.

  40. smoogy says:

This is one of the most unbelievably bad MMA cards ever to be televised.

  41. David M says:

I heard people suggesting it was a work, but that doesn’t make sense because if you wanted to work a fight to make Kimbo look good, you would have paid Houston to stand and trade and get KTFO in the first..

The Jon Jones “loss” can be chalked up to Mazzasucki. How many elbows did he need to allow Hamill to take before stopping it? Hamill was dead before the downward elbow, and it should have been stopped. Jones will be champion within 3 years, tops, maybe 2 years. He is a freakish athlete, great wrestler, and his striking is already solid and unconventional and improving.

  42. Body_Shots says:

It’s like Steve doesn’t know whether he wants to see people die in the cage or take the least amount of damage as possible. I’m almost positive he would of stopped that fight a hell of a lot earlier a month ago.

He never warns anyone, he just takes points. It was ok when him and Yamasaki were just reffing the prelims, now they’re f-cking up co/main events.

After being miffed by the lack of skill in the previous bouts (omitting Edgar-Veach)I was satisfied watching a true prospect like Jones progressing with flying colors, now all of it just seems amateurish. From Spike’s production f-ck ups, to Alexander’s grappling, to Goldberg & Rogan’s dropping of the ball during the whole Bones-Hamill sitution, all the way down to Steve-f-cking-Mazzagatti. Yuck!

  43. Jeremy (not that Jeremy) says:

    Chuck vs Tito 3.

I am agreeing with another person here that since Lorenzo put himself in charge, things have gone to shit. Coleman may not have even been the first sign of it, and this is just the latest.

The matchmaking at LHW is ridiculous for purposes of building up challengers, and the way they keep bringing back fighters who have NO BUSINESS in the cage is astonishing.

I feel very strongly about this.

  44. Chuck says:

As much as the north-south elbow rule sucks, and as much as it sucks that John Jones losing by DQ after dominating, it was the right call by Mazzagatti, for the moment at least. In a perfect rule, with no north-south elbow rule, Jones should have won. Or even winning because Hammil basically quit. But he was hurt because of the elbows, so DQing Jones was correct. I can see Jones’ camp protesting the DQ loss and having the fight changed to a no contest. I do think that should happen. Along with a rematch.

This DQ isn’t quite as bad was when Billy Evangelista got DQ’ed for the knee shot. At least that one got changed to a no contest.

Oh, and the announcement of Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz being the coaches of the next season of TUF? Um….. who gives a shit? You can feel the indifference with that announcement. At least when it comes to Tito Ortiz.

  45. NOS says:

Roy Nelson rules just by coming out to “Fat” by Weird Al!

  46. Body_Shots says:

Chuck, the thing is Hamill wasn’t stopped by the those elbows, he quit because Jones dislocated his shoulder when he rag-doll’d him. He was CLEARLY done before there ever was an illegal elbow. Moreover, where was the warning? No doubt the strikes were illegal but you don’t take points without a warning. It was just one big clusterf-ck that Mazzagatti frequently finds himself in.

  47. David M says:

It should definitely be a no-contest. Right now, Jon Jones is a top 5 LHW in the world. Other than Machida, Shogun, Mousasi, and Lil Nog, I don’t know who I would pick to see the final bell against Jones.

  48. Alan Conceicao says:

For all the suddenness that the 12-6 rule is some evil, I’ve almost never heard people seriously advocate it being legalized. For one, its not legal in any major or minor MMA promotion that I can think of currently operating in the entire world. Its also not legal in K-1 kickboxing.

The other thing that seems to be coming out of it is bitterness that intentional fouls lead to DQs. Well, yeah. The rule is there so that Gilbert Yvel types don’t just stomp a dude in the balls and pick up a TKO.

  49. Alan Conceicao says:

Moreover, where was the warning? No doubt the strikes were illegal but you don’t take points without a warning.

Oh, come on. Imagine people advocating that Wes Sims should have gotten a point taken away for stomping Frank Mir’s head and a TKO win if Frank couldn’t continue. Hey, there’s plenty of people who think knees in 4 point and soccer kicks should come back too….

  50. David M says:

Roy Nelson is awesome. He is a lot quicker than he looks seems to have a good beard, and doesn’t get rattled. Schaub didn’t move on angles the entire fight. Just straight in and straight back out.
