Down the viral drain goes Dana White’s YouTube video on Loretta Hunt…

By Zach Arnold | April 2, 2009

Print Friendly and PDF

… unless you’re like some MMA fans who downloaded the YouTube video clip. Someone put the YouTube clip of Dana White’s YouTube rant of Loretta Hunt on Sendspace for download right here. It’s an 11MB Windows Media Video file. I do not use Sendspace, but someone who captured the video from YouTube did upload it to that file service site. I’ll be fascinated to see if Zuffa’s legal team tries to get Sendspace to take it down by arguing that they own the copyrights to the footage and that even though the video was on YouTube, they still are the sole owners to the rights of the video. In other words, if someone makes a video public domain for everyone to see on YouTube, then yanks it down and others have already downloaded it, is it fair game for it to stay online as long as it’s not sold or modified?

Here is what MMA Payout readers saw last night:

And now here is what they saw early this morning:

I thought Dana White using slurs was cool? Hey, that was what I’ve been told all night long online…

Anyways – Seriously Zach, I love your site and have been coming here since you decided to split it from Puroresu Power (you were the only place to get good Japanese mma news), but so long as you continue to allow ridiculous people like 45 to spew unintelligent and markedly biased garbage like this, I will not be coming back.

I’m sure this site will “somehow manage” :), but honestly, while 45 for a long time was somewhat of a sideshow attraction/source of humour – him and a few others here have leapt off the deep end.

    Cheers.

“Why not e-mail MMAPAYOUT and let them know that no one cares about them or their opinions their act is tired and they need to go away.”

LOL….if you’re bothering to email them, it’s safe to assume that at least one person cares.

  3. Zack says:

If Gary Shaw or Kurt Otto called someone a faggot, 45 Huddle would be disgusted and calling for their heads.

  4. Zack says:

From Cindy O on the UG, who is a friend of Dana:

I just talked to him and he has no idea why th video was taken down. His position about this is stronger today than it was yesterday, though.

    Cindy

Ha! They put it back up=) “

LOL @ The Gaijin. What you’re basically saying is that you won’t visit this site unless Zach censors the opinions of commenters who you disagree with. If you don’t like what 45 is saying, don’t comment on it, don’t read it, etc. If you want to only read opinions that you agree with, start your own blog/board/whatever and moderate the commenters as you see fit.w

  6. Ivan Trembow says:

It is amazing to me how many web sites whose job it is to cover the sport have not written a word about Dana White’s rant.

  7. I’m quite surprised at the level of stupidity in some of these comments. I didn’t think I was on Shedog.

  8. Chris says:

I hear you Ivan. It’s called lazy reporting. This is also a sign that MMA is not as mainstream as some people think. If this was somone from the NFL, NBA, or MLB ranting like this, mainstream media would be all over this story. There would also be some form of public statement or apology, as a means of damage control.

The sport is growing but it’s not there yet. People will probably forget about the comments in a couple of weeks and move on to the next thing.

  9. Ivan Trembow says:

Chris— If only it was something as benign as laziness. In a lot of cases, it’s actually more about being terrified of losing UFC media credentials.

  10. Jey says:

It’s just more of the same as far as I’m concerned. The guy is an egomaniac with questionable ideals and attitudes.

I have far more of a problem with him driving around without a seatbelt on, whilst on his phone and gloating about it, than I do with him using a load of inane and juvenile swearwords and slurs.

  11. Big Bill Bob says:

Looks like ol’ Dana White will be forced into some sensitivity training, hopefully he can pay to bring along ol’ 45 also.

  12. Zack says:

“Chris— If only it was something as benign as laziness. In a lot of cases, it’s actually more about being terrified of losing UFC media credentials.”

Which is ironic because most of the johnny come lately blog sites are only relevant since they break news without stating sources.

  13. Asa says:

    45 Huddle:
If gay people said using the words “gay” or “faggot” would always mean something negative. Then I would say they shouldn’t be used.

What percentage of Gay people do you require for your polling system, and how often are you polling the entire gay population about it? Or are you referring to the people you see on TV or those obnoxious enough to say that in public? How many completely regular homosexuals are you including in your demographic range?

How many niggers massah? Do I count? I have received neither an email or phone call regarding the nigger issue. Please advise me on how many people you will demean because a percentage of our demographic says something dumb.

Because right now you are adding to the dumb.
