Report: Barnett vs. Arlovski booked for 10/11
By Zach Arnold | August 4, 2008

This, according to the Long Beach Press-Telegram. What makes this report so strange is that no one from Affliction has contacted the media about this fight being booked at all. Read what the LBPT article says:
Affliction announced over the weekend that its next show will feature a showdown of two of the best heavyweights in all of mixed martial arts as Josh Barnett will face Andrei Arlovski on Oct. 11 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
What announcement? Anyone who lived through the three months of hype and build-up for the first Affliction shows knows that every media writer was constantly being bombarded with e-mails full of announcements and proclamations. Now the main event of their second show is ‘announced’ to no one and instead reported quietly in the LBPT? Strange.

Maybe they switched up their PR people?
Perhaps they fired their PR people to save money 😉
I have the poster on my site. I’d post it here, but it’s not small.
FWIW, Arlovski was sending out MySpace bulletins promoting this fight as official with links to buy tickets online.
Rp
Affliction has created a myspace page for it with the Barnett Arlovski poster:

Awesome matchup. We will see how Affliction does promotionally now that they actually have some footage to work with.
This fight will reveal if Barnett truly is a Top 5 fighter or not.
No Fedor vs Arlovski? This promotion is doomed.
