  1. Ivan Trembow says:

I’m glad that Hong-Man Choi finally had the surgery instead of denying that there’s a problem. The Wrestling Observer reported that he was dismissed from the military quickly because his military medical examination confirmed what the CSAC testing said in 2007 (and what the NSAC never saw in 2006 because they never had in-state brain scans done): He has brain tumors stemming from his Acromegaly. The military testing, according to the Wrestling Observer, also showed that he has optical nerve damage due to the tumors pressing on his optical nerve. All things considered, he was fortunate to have gotten called up and and had the surgery now, before it was too late to do anything about it.

  2. Jeremy (not that Jeremy) says:

Well, I seriously doubt that Mr. Choi reads English language MMA blogs, but I’d still like to wish him a speedy recovery.

  3. […] In 2007, Choi was K-1’s first-choice opponent for the MMA debut of Brock Lesnar. The fight was set to headline the promotion’s U.S. debut dubbed K-1 Dynamite!! USA. However, the bout was reportedly scrapped due to the discovery of a benign tumor on Choi’s pituitary gland. Even after the discovery, Choi continued to fight. He would eventually have the tumor removed in 2008. […]
