Is this going to be on normal TV Zach?
Live on HDNet, Sunday at 3AM. Replay is at 6PM. Unless by “normal TV” you meant network television in Japan, as opposed to SkyperfecTV PPV, in which case I’m not certain, but I don’t think so. I know they have 3 more events on network tv this year, not sure which ones.
Yeah, sorry… what I meant was, Japanese free-to-air TV.
That would be sweet. I guess I will wait for the papers tomorrow morning!

This could have potential to be the Second Coming of this year.
Like the card, and DREAM.2 was pretty solid, so looking forward to this. Are they running Saitama AGAIN for this, or someplace else?

Isn’t Dream taped delayed and shown in one hour chunks? Basically like the IFL’s old deal, before they were summarily dumped.
Kind of ironic that the only place on the planet that will be showing it live is the US.

So unprofessional these Japanese companies are. Sherdog reported that one fighter didn’t know who his opponent was until he landed.
It’s only a matter of time before DREAM fails, just like Hero’s & Pride before it.
I really wanted to see Alvarez v Hansen in the finals, not the second round. I think Eddie takes it in a close fight, then sweeps the rest of the field away.
Not bad, although I wish they had someone better to fight Mayhem.

Which fighter are you talking about? I read the Sherdog article and it said nothing about any fighter not knowing who he was suppose to fight. may you miss-remembered.
Well, it’s probably just a matter of time until UFC fails too. MMA is just a fly by night event driven “sport” that will find itself relegated to the scrap heap of history along with gladiator fights.
You know, after the US’s 1000 year reign of global dominance ends.

^^^ I forgot what time DREAM was on, and when I checked I was kicking myself for tuning in half an hour late. I was quite a bit surprised when the fighters in the first match of the night were still walking down the ramp. Good timing I guess.
Anyone else see that metallic ring thing stuck to the Korean’s foot? What was that?

I thought UFC 80 was the best show of the year. IIRC, it aired 8 of the 9 fights, and all of them were good. Only one of those eight fights went to a decision (it was also FOTN).
To think I almost didn’t order it…
I watched the entire thing. It wasn’t bad, but it’s a totally different animal from UFC, which tends to be what I’m more interested in.
The long first round and the tolerance that some of the refs have for substantial inaction without an attempt to improve position are probably the biggest differences to me, they change the entire context of the fight, and I do think that the UFC approach favors a certain type of fighter and might lead to more finished fights and fewer decisions. I haven’t run any sort of analysis on that, but I definitely felt like fights were going really long for the most part.
The knees/elbows thing is more cosmetic, IMHO.
I’m not sure that I’m entirely qualified yet to comment on the quality of this event versus the quality of a UFC event. I’m more used to comparing my feelings about one UFC event versus other UFC or WEC events.
