By Zach Arnold | December 22, 2007

K-1 announced Yoshihisa Inoue vs. Takashi Tachikawa (former Chiba Lotte Marines baseball player) for their 12/31 Osaka Dome event.

Results from today’s Pancrase event in Tokyo at Differ Ariake:

On The Versus Network this Wednesday (12/26), there will be an 8-hour WEC marathon programming block on the TV channel (5 PM-1 AM EST or 2-10 PM PST).

Bill Simmons talks about Mayweather vs. Hatton and how the casual American public looks at boxing right now.

On the latest edition of Fight Opinion Radio, we interviewed Jeffrey Tennen from Camp Pendleton and asked him about the growing popularity of MMA in the US military. Here’s more proof of this phenomenon.

Some interesting stats about the traffic on Fight Opinion’s web site:

  1. Approximately 83% of the readers visit our site directly or through their bookmarks. This would roughly translate to every six out of seven readers visiting the site on their own accord as opposed to clicking on a link to us from another site.
  2. Approximately 78% of the site readers are Americans. In second place, Canadians (6% of our readership).

  1. Liger05 says:

wanna see that barnett match. looks like he dropped his opponent on his head

  2. 45 Huddle says:

Barnett has less then 2 weeks until he is out of any credible MMA Rankings. That will be when he hasn’t competed in a MMA fight for over 1 year.

  3. Zeppelin says:

Barnett looked liked he outweighed his opponent by a hundred pounds. I’m not knocking him, just stating that his opponent looked a bit small for him.

  4. Liger05 says:

I read Barnett managed to get a STF and a double arm suplex on his opponent. I wanna see that.

  5. David M says:

To quote Dana White, I’m not sure if Josh Barnett “wants to be a fuckin fighter.” He seems more interested in Japanese pro wrestling than in actually ensuring his legacy in fighting.

  6. 45 Huddle says:

Dana White talks down some good fighters, but I have to agree with his stance on Josh Barnett.

Not sure what grappling an undersized opponent really does for anybodies career.

  7. Zach Arnold says:

Let’s see… he has a title belt in Pancrase, so it might behoove him to actually take some dates for the promotion.

UFC isn’t interested in his services and it doesn’t appear that the other North American promoters are, either. His value is in Japan.

  8. D. Capitated says:

Barnett hasn’t defended the title in years. What, they’re gonna strip it from him now for the not defending in 48 months rule?

  9. liger05 says:

If the UFC wont sign Barnett what do people expect him to do? Just sit at home waiting for the phone to ring.

  10. There’s a recent interview with monte cox where he says Barnett’s manager hasn’t even returned his calls. He also says he’s heard that Barnett may be close to signing with EliteXC.

  11. David M says:

Why isn’t Barnett fighting on NYE? Obviously Fedor’s people only want him to fight cans, but there are other opponents out there for Barnett to fight…Now that Aoki needs an opponent, Barnett can step right in, Aoki is in the weight class Barnett seems most comfortable competing against..

  12. Ultimo Santa says:

There is seemingly a small group of hardcore fans who think a figher should be more concerned with securing his place in their personal MMA Rankings than securing a paycheck and making a living.

Dana White would rather promote a name with zero experience (Lesnar) than a legit heavyweight (Barnett) – so what are you gonna do? Go where the money is, and as Zach said, where your value lies.
