Ring of Fire 12/9 event results

By Zach Arnold | December 10, 2007

Print Friendly and PDF

I didn’t see any coverage of the Philippines event anywhere other than the Pancrase web site, so here you go:

Team Josh Barnett defeated Team Gokor Chivichyan 5-0.

Lightweights: Koji Oishi defeated Karen Darabedyan by a 3-0 judges’ decision.
Middleweights: Yuki Kondo defeated August Wallen by a 3-0 judges’ decision.
Light Heavyweights: Renato Babalu defeated Rodney Faverus in R1 by tap-out.
Heavyweights: Jeff Monson defeated Hakim Gouram by a 3-0 judges’ decision.
Women: Ginele Marquez won her fight by default.

More event coverage here. Mikeinformer found this news link.

This is all because of that slick picture of Team Barnett on their bus.

  2. Michaelthebox says:

Dang. No offense to Chivishyan’s team, but I look at the teams and see a bunch of Pride and UFC vets on the Barnett team, a bunch of random dudes on the other team.

  3. Dru Down says:

This has to be the weirdest MMA event in history. The event has no hype, zero coverage, takes place in no man’s land as far as the world MMA scene is concerned, yet pulls in whole teams full of world class fighters, as well as some of the most legendary names in the sport as coaches.

Who is funding and promoting all this? Why is it all hush hush? I mean, Rio Heroes gets ten times the attention ROF does.

  4. Beeker says:

Actually, I’ve been reading the blog on http://www.triumphmma.com for the past few days. They’ve been there all weekend by the looks of it. They posted results and a shit load of pictures on there today. As far as I know though, they were the only ones with any real coverage.

Damnit, I was rooting for August. This was his chance to make a name for himself, and “word on the street” (i.e. a friend of my girlfriend who trains with August) was convinced he’d take Kondo. Oh well, at least Per Eklund is signed to Zuffa now, so at least we have one Swede coming to the big league.
