Report: Old DSE staff wants to book Fedor in Japan

By Zach Arnold | November 4, 2007

Print Friendly and PDF

By Zach Arnold

Sankei Sports is reporting that old DSE staff is preparing for a double-header on New Year’s Eve at Saitama Super Arena (with a Hustle pro-wrestling show during the afternoon and an MMA event at night). The paper claims that there is great interest in booking Fedor for the MMA event.

The news coincides with Fedor’s open letter on the M-1 site, proclaiming with great interest that he would like to fight in Japan on NYE.

Quick thoughts: Given that this type of event would have the smell of ex-DSE staffers involved, it would be unlikely that a TV network would consider airing this event. Perhaps, at best, a PPV on SkyPerfecTV (satellite PPV) or if they got extremely lucky, a small time frame on TV-Tokyo (the smallest of Japan’s five free-to-air TV networks).

Maybe Fedor should show up at the HUSTLE event to revive the “Russian 54” gimmick. Or sing with Kawada.

Oohhhhhh! Or dress up in a Hard Gay suit with Tenryu and HG! Honestly, who WOULDN’T want to see that?

Huh? Coincide? Zack You realy read Japanese? that news of Sankei is telling about that “open letter on the M-1 site” , its Simple

So this entry has no meaning.

  3. […] Serwis FightOpinion uwa?a, ?e by?a ekipa DSE jest jednoznaczna z brakiem umowy z TV (mafijne powi?zania), ale by? mo?e uda za?atwi? si? PPV vis SkyPerfectTV. […]

Zach, do you think the UFC really ever had a legit chance to land Fedor? thanks

  5. white ninja says:

i like how sankei quotes Fedor saying that he has been going to Japan for NYE since the Inoki Matsuri (2003) to pride’s otoko matsuri. bit ironic that fedor’s first NYE event in the japan was what led to pride’s downfall

be great to see Fedor vs Hard Gay or since Bob Sapp is now performing in HUSTLE, maybe we finally get to see Fedor v Sapp 🙂

the big question is how they can afford Fedor’s wage demands, since K1 reportedly pulled out because Fedor was too expensive

  6. Sam Scaff says:

Actually, to Fedor’s credit, if the Yakuza scandal really led to Pride’s fall (and the allegations were true), then it is not Fedor’s fault, it is Pride’s fault for being mobbed up.

  7. David says:

Wow, we have a bunch of global MMA experts here. Let us see what happens in the future, and hope that the old DSE guys can pull it off. Have faith!

Hold the line and the faith!

Anyone want to take bets on when M-1 will fold? =)

The newspaper was the first to report about a double-header happening at Saitama Super Arena with Hustle and MMA in a single day.

Enough about the bloody Yakuza PLEASE. I strongly believe that I made a near fatal mistake of writing those articles (more like copying, lolol). Fact is, yakuza is just about in every business in Japan, it’s naive to think that Japan can get rid of the completely at this moment. K-1 has yakuza involvement and they got away with more stuff than PRIDE.

I’m not that religious (or not as much as I use to) but I believe we angered a greater power with PRIDE’s death. For fuck’s sake I was in the fucking hospital for nearly a week, only to get out of the hospital for my friends to fucking backstab me, and only to read online that Chris Benoit killed himself and his fucking family! Hell my life and health continues to go downhill to this day cause of PRIDE’s death. Hell, after the buy out, there was a bunch of negative PRIDE stories, and on those days I had a bad day, it’s not a mere coinsidence, other people’s lives were affected by PRIDE’s death by what seems to be a weird coinsidence. One guy got dumped by his GF for no reason at around PRIDE’s death, the other’s life starting to become bad. Not as bad as mine, but still bad.

A higher power out there is angry. It might as well be God himself that is angry over PRIDE’s death. And some of us is suffering because of that. God forgive me PLEASE for writing negatively about PRIDE.

  12. […] Zach Arnold says the old Dream Stage guys are trying to put together a show by backpacking it in the same arena as their super retardo HUSTLE NYE show. So that’s one possibility, I suppose. K1 is always a possibility although rumor has it Fedor’s ‘wish’ comes with a pricetag that makes it financially unaffordable. Apparently K1 only likes to burn one huge pile of cash a year, and this year that pile was the US Dynamite show. […]

Who is PizzaChef and why is he so nutso?
