Saturday media splash: Only UFC exists
By Zach Arnold | June 1, 2007
The latest edition of Fight Game on Fox News.
More Internet rumors about Xyience. Hope the reporting is solid, because there are some pretty heavy allegations being made there.
Today’s Globe & Mail newspaper in Canada has a story called Ultimate Fighting: Blood, guts, and PPV. The author’s e-mail is here. As we’ve discussed on Fight Opinion Radio this week, no one except UFC is benefitting from the avalanche of mainstream media press coverage. It’s ‘ultimate fighting’ and not ‘Mixed Martial Arts.’ It’s UFC and no one else. The media is literally going to re-write the history of this industry for mass consumption.
Ron at Concepts Marketing has two very important posts to read (here and here) regarding UFC, IFL, etc. in terms of MMA and marketing. Adam Morgan has further thoughts. The IFL is the national MMA problem child right now in terms of bad business. Brent Brookhouse has some advice for the IFL. CNBC’s Darren Rovell also has some IFL thoughts.
IFL 6/1 Everett, WA. event results. They claimed 6,977 fans in the building. F4W IFL live event report. IFL press release here.
Frustations are boiling over online about criticism the IFL is receiving. Here’s a comment from Pat Miletich:
Jinx,
No matter what it is in life that people try to accomplish, there will always be those that are critics.
It must be a miserable life knowing you never put your ass on the line for anything. You calling the IFL a peice of shit translates into you calling everyone associated with the IFL peices of shit.
Anyone who talks this way and wishes ill will towards people attempting something good, speaks volumes about the person who issues the statement.
You have explained yourself in full, no need for mentioning your name.
PM
And the response from the poster getting criticized:
Good luck dude. I know you’re taking this personally Pat but IFL is LOSING MONEY by the day.
This is NOT a good investment for anybody, supporting the sport or not doesn’t make a shit of difference.
If you guys want to bet on this and lose your asses, please go right ahead. This stock is a piece of shit. Maybe the concept was great but it never made it off the ground and as time goes on it will keep losing more and more money.
It was nothing personal against those hoping IFL will succeed, I wish nothing more than for it to make it, but the truth is, it would take a MIRACLE for this company to be saved at this point.
It would literally take a 20 million dollar bailout. WHo the fuck is going to step forward with 20 mil and bail this thing out. The only answer is ZUFFA and whether or not they do it is pure speculation thus it is NOT FACT.
THUS this company AS IT IS TODAY is losing money fast, in debt up the ass and about to go bankrupt.
I give it less than a year. If you put 10 grand into this stock, I promise you that it will be worth less than 500 dollars in 6 months.
If you’re up to the gamble, feel free.

Is anybody ordering the K-1 Dynamite Show tonight?
Ole Rampage at it again
“Is anybody ordering the K-1 Dynamite Show tonight?”
I’m going to the show live….cant wait!!!
Well technically it’s not racism but criminal convictions that keep rampage out.
A year ago an associate of mine headed up to Canada for a job which was offered to him. He was detained and refused entry due to a conviction of vandalism(he’d been caught spraypainting graffiti on some buildings)when he was out of highschool.
This guy is white with blond hair and looks as Canadian as can be.
My cousin has had the same thing happen to him at the border, he had some outstanding traffic tickets.
He is also not black.
There do however seem to be valid allegations of racist behaviour in the ufc, as The president of that company was reportedly over heard using the “n” word in regards to Mr Jackson.
Im going, my dad got free tickets (what a shocker)…so yea going to my old alumni Fight on SC!!!!
I personally know a bunch of the East Coast Street Fights people. Straight class.
