The Ultimate Fighter Season 4, Episode 12

By Erin | November 2, 2006

Print Friendly and PDF

By Erin Bucknell

We get a recap of Matt Serra calling out Marc Laimon a couple of weeks ago and Edwin’s Ric Flair impersonation during his last TUF fight.

Serra says he’s still proud of Pete Sell, even though he lost as it wasn’t to a knockout or submission.

Captain Miserable is apparently eating his way through the rest of the series — his own food and everyone else’s. I can’t blame him for pigging out on free food, but dude, if it’s marked as someone else’s, keep your hands off! If you can’t tell, I’ve had issues with former roommates over such things.

The guys set up a bucket of water on top of a door trying to catch Charles McCarthy but end up accidentally taking out Dewees and then decide to go after everyone else. Once McCarthy gets doused, he is, of course, rather miserable about it.

Dewees decides to go train with Team No Love out of respect to Patrick Cote. He’s also a bit worried about his head cut, as it’s still a bit tender. He understands that Cote might go for the cut during their fight.

GSP thinks that Cote has a genuine chance to win, but not if he fights like he did against Jorge. Cote says that he prefers to keep the fight standing.

Mikey Burnett gets a call from the UFC doctor regarding his neck problems. The doctor says that he needs neck surgery and will most likely be out for 6-12 months.

Edwin says that he wants the fight to go quickly, as he still wants to look young and attractive for his wife when he goes home. Edwin, I’ve got news for you. No matter what happens, you’re still gonna look like you are all of 15. And seeing as its only 20 minutes into the show, somehow I doubt this will be a quick fight.

Edwin DeWees vs. Patrick Cote

Round 1. The guys start by throwing leg kicks before locking up against the cage. Edwin gets double underhooks and tries to take Cote down, only to end up on his back with Cote in his guard. Cote scoots to half guard and starts dropping punches. They go back to standing and exchange some more kicks. There’s also some punches exchanged but neither guy is landing anything serious. Edwin goes for a sweep on Cote but again Cote ends up in the dominate position. Cote drops some short elbows as the round ends.

Round 2. Edwin is mostly going for leg kicks while Cote is sticking to boxing. Dewees goes for a kick which Cote catches and takes Edwin down. Cote sits in Dewees’ guard until Edwin goes for an arm and they go back to standing. Cote gets Edwin on the ground and drops some nasty punches to his head. Dewees manages to get through it and Cote starts to work on an arm. When that becomes unsuccessful, Cote goes back to smacking Edwin in the head. Edwin’s cut gets opened up again, but it doesn’t look as bad as last time. Round ends.

Round 3. Both guys seem very determined to get some good damage in as they are both throwing punches and kicks all over the place. Cote gets Dewees down but can’t do much as Edwin has Cote’s upper body tied up. Cote gets some short elbows and Dewees manages to get in a few punches of his own. They stay this way until the end of the round.

Winner: Patrick Cote (by unanimous decision)

After the fight, both Edwin and Cote joke about Cote going after Edwin’s forehead cut. All four finalists comment on their upcoming fights and the NotFinalists talk about what they plan to do in the future to finish out the show.

They didn’t say, but is it possible that Mikey Burnett’s neck issues are the result of his football game against the house wall?
