K-1 To Produce Eight International GP’s in 2006!
By Adam Underhill | February 26, 2006
Some interesting news as far as FEG/K-1’s future plans and events are concerned.
Since 1993, for thirteen years, K-1 have always used their prestigious openweight World Grand Prix series as the centre stage for fighters around the world. Hundreds of fighters from around the world compete in events promoted by K-1’s regional fighting network, with eight of the best fighters earning their place in the tournament finals at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
It has now been reported that FEG will produce eight major K-1 World Grand Prix tournaments in 2006. These tournaments include shows from a number of different countries. Such as the Oceania GP from Auckland, New Zealand on May 5, the USA GP from Las Vegas, NV, on April 19, and also the Europe GP from the Amsterdam Arena, Holland, on May 13.
It has been announced that a network of overseas broadcasters will bring this year’s World GP to television viewers in over 116 countries across the globe. FEG’s newly-implemented international schedule is an attempt to solidify K-1’s position as “The World’s Fightsport”.
