In an official announcement from the King of Pancrase Committee earlier today, they accepted an offer in which Tsuyoshi Kohsaka wanted to vacate the super heavyweight King of Pancrase title as of January 20th 2006. Personally, I think TK should considering hanging up the gloves after this fight, or maybe one more. He was a somewhat above average fighter at his peak (as well as being a very good shoot style wrestler at his best), but he’s nearly 36 now and time hasn’t been as favorable to him as, say, Randy Couture.

Good job by TK, although Mario Sperry isn’t exactly Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira or another top 10-15 HW (and we all saw what happened when he faced Fedor last time…). If he plans on retiring after the Open Weight Grand Prix, props to him. He was a quality fighter, but he really is slowing down and should realize he can’t keep on fighting forever.
