Fight Opinion Survey
By Zach Arnold | January 2, 2006

We’re still relatively new in terms of this web site, so I wanted to take this time to thank everyone who has supported us so far with the project.
I would like everyone to do me a favor and respond to this posting by giving us some survey answers in the comments section of this thread. We are trying to formulate an advertising and content plan to attract a larger audience and be able to serve all of you better. Here are some questions that we would like to get answers from you on:
- What was your first impression of this web site when you visited it?
- What content do you like on the site? Which content do you not care for?
- Do you like the site? Do you dislike it? What changes or things would you like to see added onto the site?
- What would be the best way to market and advertise the web site to pro-wrestling & MMA fans? What sites would you recommend us buying ad space on to promote Fight Opinion?
- What can we do for you to establish an emotional connection or a bond between this web site and yourself?
- Is there any aspect of this site that is intimidating to you? What do you think about the idea of having posts in multiple languages?
Maybe a strange list of questions, but we are trying our very best to get things moving. And getting feedback from you is a critical part of this. Thank you for your support.

1) My first impression was that it looked like a cool MMA blog site. I like the idea of a site devoted to opinion pieces and generating discussion.
2) I like the MMA content. I don’t like the wrestling content. I would only like the wrestling content if its in some way related to MMA. I have nothing against wrestling, I was a fan for a long time, but I don’t watch now and I don’t have much interest reading about it, or discussing if its not in relation to MMA.
3) I like the site. I would like to see more opinion pieces. Especially from MMA people in Japan, and maybe even Brazil. I would love to get a better feel for how they view MMA. Is it similar to those of us in North America? Is it different? For this though, you’ll need to add a link that translates from Japanese to English, not just English to Japanese.
4. Honestly, I’m not sure how to best market a site like this. I would buy ad space on the major MMA sites and the major wrestling sites (ie. wrestlingobserver, f4wonline, liveaudiowrestling, MMAWeekly, Sherdog, etc.).
5. Give me something I can’t get from another site. Make this site more than just your average news site.
6. I’m not intimidated by anything on the site. I love the idea of posts in multiple languages, as long as I can translate them into english, and they don’t read like an episode of the Hustle-ations. A link to a good translator site would be a good idea. I haven’t been able to find one yet.
Luke,
For translating from Japanese to English, use these tools:
http://honyaku.yahoo.co.jp/transtext – pick the second button and it will go from Japanese to English
http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english
I will make sure to post these as permanent links on the site. As far as posts by Sano in Japanese, if you notice that there is some English sub-text underneath to try to summarize points being made.
1. The site seems to appear very professional which is good and bad. It appears kind on bland compared to PuroresuPower.
2. I like the variety of opinions. I like the quicker read articles and not the long posts.
3. I like the site but it still needs some personality.
4. f4w, observer the usual sites that you would think of.
5. Again add some personality to the site. If the mma radio show is going to be hosted on the site that will help. I feel I have a bond with the PPH site and F4wonline
6. I really like the multiple languages. If there is a quick way to translate that would be really cool.
1. FightOpinion looked like an interesting blog with lots of potential for discussion on different topics.
2. I agree with Luke on this. I don’t really care for the pro-wrestling/WWE related news. I’d like for some puroresu news to be reported now and again, for instance the big stories, etc. Visitors can go to PuroresuPower.com for detailed news reports and such. Try to keep it as MMA-related as possible.
3. It definitely needs some personality. Something that can symbolise/characterise the website, like a radio show, shop, forum, etc.
4. Definitely the major news sources (prowrestling.com, MAXFighting.com, MMAWeekly.com, MMAFighting.com, maybe even foreign (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Brazilian) websites to bring in different types of fight fans.
5. Something that characterises the website. Brings something fresh to the table. A centre for all things MMA. Make us want no other MMA source.
6. Multiple languages will definitely help the website. Maybe this could be the major selling point. Multiple languages can only add character and personality! I think you’ve found your niche, Zach!
Another good Japanese/English translator can be found at http://babelfish.altavista.com/
1. It feels like a first class blog. The content is always interesting. I think it could use a bit more color. The white can kill your eyes after reading it through a extended amount of time.
2. I like the widest amount of opinions, wrestling and/or MMA. While I don’t mind articles being long, I do think that an article can be chopped in sections to make sure it doesn’t get too long.
3. I’m with the majority. Give it some personality. maybe a picture or two once in a while. I’m also with Luke. Invite international personalities on board.
4. Ironlife.com (Ironlife has a large international community with less the hassle of Sherdog), Prokarateweekly.com, Kakutogi.info, Maybe Kakuto?
5. The radioshow would definatly make the difference.
6. Go for it dude. I’m all for getting the world in on the action.
To add to what Nick said about the bond to PPH and f4wonline, I feel the same way. I almost feel like I’ve gotten to know the people associated with both F4W and the PPH, even though I’ve never met any of them personally.
