PRIDE 12/31 Ogawa v Yoshida News
By Adam Underhill | December 25, 2005
Hidehiko Yoshida is looking for a new game plan come PRIDE Man Festival 2005 on 12/31. Yoshida has been training in Muay Thai with Yoshida Dojo coach Sergio Cunha for the past five months and proclaims that he will knock out Ogawa with his knee.
“We are doing good work, training a lot. We are focused on the MMA training, but we are also sharpening our striking skills, with punches, kicks, knees and stomps. Yoshida trains hard, he is a very responsible fighter and very focused on what he does. He has evolved a lot his striking skills and now let’s see if he can repeat it in the ring,” Cunha stated.
Two other Yoshida Dojo fighters, Kazuhiro Nakamura and Makoto Takimoto, are also fighting on the 12/31 show.
“We know we will face tough fighters and we respect all of them. But we expect a great show, with three victories, of course. And all of them by KO, I hope so,” Cunha added.
As the most expensive fight in the history of mixed martial arts draws closer, PRIDE have been doing some interesting promotional work in terms of marketing Naoya Ogawa vs. Hidehiko Yoshida on New Year’s Eve. I stumbled across this little gem after browsing through the official Japanese PRIDE website, and figured that anyone who can read Japanese would enjoy this hype video of sorts.
It is a Flash animation in the form of a video greetings e-card. I won’t spoil too much, it’s very neatly put together.
