Dana is going to make an announcement too. Probably either CBS TV deal or Rampage & Griffin as head coaches for the next TUF.

  2. December 8th, 2007 at 6:37 pm Jeremy (not that Jeremy) Says:

Never, never let either of those two guys fight for UFC again.

I can’t believe that he would pride himself on the fact that he ignored his corner’s orders to knock the opponent out.

  3. December 8th, 2007 at 6:46 pm xx2000xx Says:

Joe Rogan has said, “world class” 4 times in 45 minutes. He’s going for a record tonight.

  4. December 8th, 2007 at 8:56 pm Dedwyre Says:

HUERTA~! No shaved eyebrows for Kid Nate.

  5. December 8th, 2007 at 8:56 pm The Gaijin Says:

WOW…Huerta really saved it there. He was getting shutout and looked to be on queer street - then he lands a huge knee to turn the tide.

If anything my opinion of Guida’s gone up 10-fold after watching this fight. Huerta is a star of the future but he’s still pretty raw.

  6. December 8th, 2007 at 8:59 pm Jonathan Says:

I am going to call the Guida/Huerta fight the “Fight of the Year”

  7. December 8th, 2007 at 9:01 pm Jonathan Says:

And Clay is so…so calm and sincere after his lost. Totally different fighter from the beginning of the fight and then the end.

  8. December 8th, 2007 at 9:08 pm Fan Futbol Says:

Guida-Huerta was absolutely fantastic. A high-speed everywhere brawl between two guys with awesome chins. Wow.

  9. December 8th, 2007 at 9:08 pm The Gaijin Says:

Sorry boys - but you kinda tipped your hat as to who the other coach is gonna be when you proclaimed Griffin as the #1 contender. ;)

Especially since he’s fighting the other coach at the end of the season.

  10. December 8th, 2007 at 9:09 pm Fan Futbol Says:

I saw Guida-Huerta but missed the announcement. What was it?

  11. December 8th, 2007 at 9:10 pm CapnHulk Says:

All in all, not a bad show at all.

  12. December 8th, 2007 at 9:12 pm The Gaijin Says:

    FF,

Griffin is the #1 contender and coach for TUF 7.

2nd coach to be announced tmmw night on the VGAs.

  13. December 8th, 2007 at 9:16 pm Fan Futbol Says:

    Gaijin — Thanks.

  14. December 8th, 2007 at 9:30 pm Jonathan Says:

Any idea on who the other coach will be? It will not be Stephan Bonnar.

  15. December 8th, 2007 at 9:40 pm xx2000xx Says:

Come on now, as we all knew that Floyd would win.

I’m talking this, as the UK fans are still talking, but here we go. Mayweather vs Cotto is the next big thing.

Oscar wanted Hatton to win, if he did, he said there was an HBO 24/7 again, now………………….

  16. December 8th, 2007 at 10:03 pm The Gaijin Says:

Gotta think the other coach is gonna be Rampage.

Think about it - they name Forrest as the #1 LHW contender and then he’s gonna be in their flagship show that culminates with him fighting the other coach on PPV.

It’d be pretty dumb to name someone your
#1 contender and then have them tied up for the next five months building towards a fight with someone other than your champ!

  17. December 8th, 2007 at 10:16 pm Ultimo_Santa Says:

Huerta vs. Guida was a top 5 fight from 2007, no doubt. Both men are bad-asses. Huerta needs maybe 2 years of polishing before fighting for the title, but he’ll get there.

K-1 tournament was a bit of a let-down. Le Banner got injured, Badr Hari got robbed, and Shilt wins in an anti-climactic finish.

I had to turn down the volume for the entire show as the three color men were Akebono, Ernesto Hoost and Ray Sefo. One of these men would have been bad enough, but all three? JESUS…

What was boxing in 2007? TWO fights. That’s it. Oscar/Floyd, which was an absolute embarrassment to the sport of boxing (and it’s broken scoring system), and then a SIX MONTH build-up so Floyd can beat a relatively unknown Brit.

Mainstream media: please let this sport die. It doesn’t deserve the insane, 24/7 coverage.

  18. December 8th, 2007 at 10:17 pm IceMuncher Says:

Great night of fights! I didn’t watch it, but I seriously doubt Mayweather and Hatton is as exciting as what the UFC gave us.

Huerta vs Guida is my vote for FOTY. A frenzied non-stop pace, excellent wrestling, solid BJJ, exciting standup exchanges and a come from behind finish. Wow!

  19. December 8th, 2007 at 10:38 pm ilostmydog Says:

    @ Ultimo Santa:

Saying boxing in 2007 was two fights merely goes to show that you probably don’t follow the sweet science.

  20. December 8th, 2007 at 10:49 pm The Gaijin Says:

    @ Ultimo:

Umm…Pavlik - Taylor, probably bore a star draw for boxing.

    Cotto-Mosely, Vargas-Mayorga, Calzaghe-Kessler, Hatton-Castillo.

Just a bit bigger than 2 fights bro.

  21. December 8th, 2007 at 11:22 pm David M Says:

lol at boxing being only 2 fights this year, and at Hatton being unknown, while at the same time this thread is about Clay Guida, who maybe 300 people on Earth would recognize…

The PBF-Hatton fight was really dramatic and exciting, and both men looked good/ showed lots of skills/heart. PBF-Cotto will be enormous..

Hatton has no business at 147, he is like 5′5 and has short arms. At 140 he is the best in the world, but he was dwarfed tonight–PBF had like a 5 inch reach advantage.

I think Cotto has a decent shot at beating Floyd because he is huge, actually has a jab (Hatton leads with his face), and is a big body puncher. PBF really will have his hands full with any of the top 3 guys at 147 (Williams, Cotto, or Cintron) because they are all big, fast, and hit hard. Obviously Floyd would have the speed and skill advantage over them, but he would be in for a real test against any of those guys, as he was tonight..

  22. December 8th, 2007 at 11:26 pm Leland Roling Says:

Dana blew the damn announcement for tomorrow. He stated Griffin was THE #1 contender, then said that the coaches will fight at the end of TUF Season 7. Obviously, it’s Rampage.

PBF-Hatton was a decent fight, but I wasn’t falling for the dramatic. Hatton’s style was completely nullified by Cortez early. He wasn’t allow any inside game at all. Regardless, Mayweather was still much faster and there is no way Hatton was beating Mayweather even with the inside boxing he wasn’t allowed to do.

  23. December 9th, 2007 at 1:31 am PizzaChef Says:

Huerta vs. Guida was an awesome fight. Might be a finalist for fight of the year, but of course, it won’t beat Diaz vs. Gomi for the actual fight of the year award.

And once again the finale was much better than any of the UFC PPV shows lately.

  24. December 9th, 2007 at 2:55 pm klown Says:

I enjoyed all the fights. None went to decision. The TUF stars Mac and George scored flawless victories. The other TUF fights were also impressive. Huerta-Guida is an epic fight, I’m still reeling from it.

  25. December 11th, 2007 at 11:33 am Billy Gamble Says:

Thanks for the plug! I usually do a prediction for most of the big shows, not like I am every right though.
