Wednesday media round-up

By Zach Arnold | October 25, 2006

Print Friendly and PDF

  1. Dave Doyle: Showbiz and MMA (a fantastic article about Vince McMahon’s past failures and what it would mean in MMA)
  2. UFC HP: Nick Diaz prepares to fight at UFC 65 near his hometown
  3. Complete Vale Tudo Access: Pancrase 10/25 Korakuen Hall event results
  4. Nevada State Athletic Commission: Medical suspensions coming of PRIDE 32 event (take note of the real, non-kayfabed names for the ring announcers)
  5. Sherdog (Greg Savage): PRIDE slips foot in the door

The arena was chock full of hardcore MMA fans. And by that I mean the hardest of the hard. It was as if I had been inserted into a virtual reality Internet message board.

  6. MMA California: Frank Shamrock discovers more YouTube fun
  7. NHB News (Japan): Will Rickson Gracie have a retirement fight in HERO’s?
  8. Mike Sawyer: Phil Baroni rocked by divorce
  9. The “O” Show: The ramifications of WWE entering the world of MMA
  10. Reuters: Fighting spirit saves retiree from attack (Japanese text version here)

Admit it – it’s a great ring name. And he is excellent on TV.

Well, I’m gonna stick my neck out here fellas…..bear with me on this one……..no.

On the subject of “Kei Grand” who remembers that awesome exploding ball intro at PRIDE 14?

That was him inside it wasn’t it?

Well it don’t matter if it was or it wasn’t I just wanted to share to remind everyone of “the exploding ball”.

Where would MMA (or life itself) be without the exploding balls of PRIDE?!?!?!?!

  4. BSP says:

Yeah, I remember the exploding ball. Wasn’t his face projected onto it?

But on more serious matters… I wonder if there are any behind-the-scenes discussions between PRIDE and WWE. How else to explain Shane McMahon’s presence at Real Deal as “an invited guest.” That could make for an unstoppable partnership (unless Vince McMahon acts like a tyrannical jackass… which, as I think about it, is almost a sure thing). WWE already has the TV deals, and with pro-wrestling in a steady descent, McMahon could be looking to jump on an established product (rather than try to build one from the ground up).

You missed this one on Sherdog from monday, it’s equally as good as The Savage Truth. http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles.asp?n_id=5953

  6. PizzaChef says:

    Lennelle Malts, ftw?

🙁 She will always be Lenne Hardt in my heart… *cries*
