  1. 45 Huddle says:

Aren’t these “defenders” of the internet just giving politicians more ammunition to lockdown the internet? That’s the only thing that annoys me about this whole thing.

After what happened to places like Megaupload…. I wouldn’t want to be on the bad side of the law on this one. The government is cracking down big time on the “bad” people of the internet.

With that said, even tech experts don’t straight up instigate these guys. They know it’s a losing battle. Which it is. Stay out of there way is the best option.

Then again, Dana White does have people talking about the UFC a lot right before a big FOX show….

    • Safari_Punch says:

Bad is a relative term. Zuffa doesn’t believe in free speech for their employees or people outside of their control and want that control.

I don’t think anyone can ague that Zuffa isn’t evil.

      • 45 Huddle says:

Zuffa is trying to protect their content. That doesn’t make them bad.

The problem is that the internet has had such a lax view on stealing for so long that when anybody tries to stop them from this illegal behavior, most people get upset.

SOPA is too far reaching. But it’s not like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and the other major internet companies are meeting half way for a proper discussion on the topic.

      • Light23 says:

Yes, Zuffa are evil. *rolls eyes*

In a world with brutal dictators, genocide, trampling of human rights, torture, child molestation, and more, the biggest worry of MMA fans is some entrepreneur who built an entire industry.

  2. Chromium says:

    1) SOPA is politically toxic now. So is any major internet regulation, not kidding (the very narrow OPEN bill might be about the limit for half-a-decade). No lawmakers want anything to do with reviving it now. It will be years before anything similar like that can happen again. So stop kidding yourselves.

    2) Holy shit this is not a fight Dana White wants. There is no benefit whatsoever for him to pick this fight. I seriously had to re-evaluate my opinion of Dana White’s intelligence here, and I don’t think that’s ever happened before. He’s just lucky Anonymous has short attention spans. He needs to stop shooting at a hornets nest and back off. I’m not saying it will seriously damage the UFC but the best case scenario is this will be a major headache for Dana White personally.

    • 45 Huddle says:

Dana White was certainly dumb about this…. But it will have zero impact on him personally.

Rich people in this country aren’t going to have their identities stolen. And if they do, it will have zero impact on them. The credit agencies have special teams to monitor rich and important (like judges) people’s history to make sure there is no fraud as to not raise any red flags about the system. It’s something the people like you and me don’t get.

Dana White is immune to this stuff. The most it will be is a headache until the internet hackers find another target.

But he did get people talking about the UFC on a big weekend. He has a knack for doing that. He trolls us all….

      • 45 Huddle says:

And don’t get me wrong…. I think it’s pretty cool that Dana White dared these guys and they called him up on his offer. And I think it’s extremely foolish to mess with these guys. Dana White has doesn’t have an off switch.

I just think these guys who call for internet freedom are doing the most the make a case against it. They are actually hurting their own cause…

        • Bryan says:

Maybe not but a group like Anonymous could at the very least cause some headaches for him personally. I doubt anyone would be dumb enough to charge things to his credit card but thats not to stop them from say spamming him or infecting his personal pc who knows what. I suppose at the worst if they wanted to the could infect the UFC website with a virus or malware which could attack anyone who logs on yo to to to the site or expose all of Zuffa’s private company info, which I wouldn’t put past them to do.

  3. liger05 says:

    Dumb move Dana.

He let this get to him personally and picked the wrong opponent. He tried to mess with pro hackers who can hack into the FBI so they would have no problems getting his shit.

    Idiotic!!

  4. Chromium says:

Eh, seems they missed the mark on much of his personal info actually. Doesn’t appear accurate according to people on the UG.

Still, people claiming that Dana White and Zuffa will somehow “make Anonymous pay” or track them down are completely retarded. Maybe they can track one or two dudes down at most. If the Church of Scientology with an unholy armada of lawyers couldn’t even make a dent in Anonymous I doubt Zuffa can do very much.

Again though, short attention spans here. Could blow over in a week if Dana is smart about this.

Ed. — The safe money is that he’s not smart about this. Even if he stops for the weekend, he’ll be back for more.

    • EJ says:

I actually think Dana is being very smart about this Anonymous is playing a game here that is going to backfire on them. They could have easily taken the challenge and done something to the website but these guys have gone overboard.

And are only playing into politicians worst fears, Zuffa is a billion dollar company this isn’t some small attack they have launched. To me these guys are hurting their cause by pulling bs like this not helping it.

      • Zheroen says:

Yeah, challenging a hacker establishment that’s already butted heads with a far bigger entity (the Church of Scientology) and essentially won out is a great idea and “very smart”. Sycophant.

  5. Zach Arnold says:

On a sidenote, it appears Twitter is ready for surrender to the Chinese & Singaporean (and US) governments with this new edict:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/twitter/9043869/Twitter-will-censor-tweets-by-country.html

    a) good luck trying to enforce ‘speech’ laws

    b) They really must want to compete with the Chinese government’s version of Twitter by… emulating it?

  6. jb says:

UFC.com’s webmaster must be pulling his hair out

  7. Chromium says:

A bit off-topic, but I noticed a couple days ago that Strikeforce.com’s entire website has been reduced to a huge graphic advertising Tate vs. Rousey. I tried to go to links my browser remembered within Strikeforce.com to look at fighter profiles and still got bounced back to the front. The few links on the graphic all go to other pages like Strikeforce’s Facebook page. Even the image itself is hosted at ufc.tv. I just thought it was kind of sad and fitting.

  8. RST says:

    Lol indeed.

I was never really impressed with anonymous before. They just seemed like somewhat tech savvy hipsters to me. But they’ve been winning my inner anarchist over during this last year with some pretty impressive stunts.

As far as Dana, couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

And I dont care for the way he’s treating King Mo either.

  9. DAN from MI says:

DANA is nothing but a greedy fat pig, who hates freedom and freedom of expression, he should move to N. Korea, China or Iran where that pig belongs.

    • RST says:

      Oh he’s not that bad.

He’s only as greedy, selfish and abusive as every other murikan with money and power.

      This is not a freedom.
      This is a capitalist democracy.
