Gee whizz guys, isn’t it great that Bellator is making these strong matchups? You know, like Whisper Goodman vs. Hector Lombard? DOIN’ IT THE RIGHT WAY, AMIRITE.
I’m setting this to record in case it isn’t terrible but my expectations are pretty darn low.
And that really is the problem with Bellator. After you win a tournament, the big question is… What’s next?
They are a feeder organization that thinks they are a big time player and try to hold onto their fighters at all costs.
Sadly, a lot of these fighters are likely to be held up in limbo for months after Bellator folds.
Rebneyt is scum.
Who the fuck was expecting something else? People are complete morons. Rebney will undoubtedly try and sell off contracts to the UFC at some point to recoup money. I bet the UFC tells him no and states that they don’t pay middlemen.
I’d go if I still lived there. The women’s tourney alone would make it worth it to me. It’s true that a lot of the other fights are a bit weak, but there are some good fighters scattered here and there.
According to MMAJunkie, Bellator 33 will have Eddie Alvarez vs. Roger Huerta due to Pat Curran being injured.
Shouldn’t the other Lightweight Finalist get the first chance instead? But I guess we all know Bellator is just trying to find any way to put this fight on. Reminds me of Strikeforce with them giving losers title fights because that athlete is who they planned to fight for the title before they lost.
I’d rather see them bring in a UFC 155lb castoff(besides Huerta) to fight Alvarez, and give Imada a chance at beating “the stomper of football players”.
Yves Edwards being in an untelevised prelim, while Eddie Sanchez vs. Neil Grove is on the televised main card, doesn’t seem right.
Having said that, Bellator’s 115-pound tournament is looking amazing. When it comes to actions (as opposed to words), Bellator has already far surpassed Strikeforce in the area of booking world-class women’s MMA fights.
Apologies for not relating this to the thread, but an interesting bit of Bellator news I just picked up recently that needs to be shared. During the Saints preseason game, I saw an advertisement that Bellator was coming to New Orleans on September 9.
For those that don’t follow the NFL, the NFL regular season starts on September 9 with a rematch of the NFC Title game between the Minnesota Vikings vs. Super Bowl Champions New Orleans Saints at the Superdome. This just screams horrible idea for Bellator.
Ed. — Oh my… they are running against the Superdome game on NBC? Holy…
Well, let’s be realistic. It’s ONLY the NFL champions in the city that COVETS them….I mean, the NFL will not draw THAT much.
And let’s be real here. Even big mouthed Dana White…. With all of his talk about how the UFC will be the biggest sport in the world…. Which we all know is a bunch of BS….
Anyways, even with all of his talk, he doesn’t dare go against the NFL.
If the UFC isn’t willing to do it…. Then Bellator shouln’t even blink at the idea….
