  1. Alan Conceicao says:

Lots of “okay” fights, nothing that excites me. Wouldn’t be shocked at all to see Kitaoka drop another fight against Masvidal. I wish Kevin Randleman had some sort of alternative way to make money for his family too.

Plus, Santiago coming back; really excited about that.

  2. 45 Huddle says:

I agree, nothing great. Santiago/Khalidov, Kitaoka/Masvidal, and Hoshino/Sandro do interest me. Hioki not getting an immediate title shot saddens me. More Japanese politics as usual.

  3. BM2 says:

    I fear for Randleman’s testicles

  4. Cho says:

45 you know nothing of japanese MMA stick to your tuf show.

  5. Earlie says:

Wow first two posters should probably stick to watching The Ultimate Fighter and Dana White’s video blogs.

Kitaoka vs Game Bred, Yokota vs Mitsuoka, and Santiago vs Khalidov are all good fights, and Randleman vs Nedkov, Herman vs York are both interesting fights.

Kevin Randleman is far from shot. The first poster makes it sound as if he’s no longer even competitive and endangering his health.

  6. Alan Conceicao says:

Kevin Randleman is completely shot, nearly 40, has had significant drug issues, and is broke. What was it about Whitehead beating him up that leaves any question?

  7. Alan Conceicao says:

BTW, the Super Six tonight was fun as hell. Froch/Dirrell was entertaining and all sorts of ugly at the same time, a nail biter, and even brings the controversy. Meanwhile, Arthur Abraham let off a right hand with all the force of a .357 on the face of Jermain Taylor with less than 15 seconds to go. I’m completely estatic to see all the upcoming fights for the competitors.

  8. MK says:

I thought that Froch/Dirrell was ugly as hell and not entertaining. Dirrell should have won but I have zero sympathy for the way he fought, Froch has been exposed to a degree since the Taylor fight but his fights with Kessler and Abraham will be action fights with him probably getting KOed by both. Dirrell has potential but a lot of his fights have been really negative.

I love this tournament but its too bad that only the hardcore boxing fans seem to know that its happening in North America.

Abraham’s KO was one of the best of the year and he is one of the best one hitter quitter puncher in the entire sport, the move up in weight greatly helped him.

  9. Razorstorm says:

I hope Randleman is gonna be ok to fight, iv been reading up about he aint been very well lately.

  10. The Gaijin says:

Rumours that Rumina Sato vs. Joe Warren has been set up for the up-coming JVT show.

Interesting, but I think Sato’s going to get crushed in short order if Warren shows any learning curve from the Bibiano fight.

  11. Lem says:

If this “Alan Conceicao” really believes Kevin Randleman is shot then I guess he thinks the majority of people competing in mixed martial arts should probably quit because they suck.

  12. Alan Conceicao says:

    A) A lot of them should in order to prevent long term injury to themselves.

    B) If Kevin Randleman isn’t a shot mess, what is the evidence that he isn’t? That embarassingly bad performance against Ryo Kawamura a couple years back? That’s the closest thing to a win over a world class opponent the man has had in 5 years.

  13. urbanraida says:

Nothing on the site about it yet, but DREAM.12 has undergone some changes.

Manhoef is out of the Galesic fight. Sakuraba is taking his place…….

Tamura is off the show, Zaromskis gets a Korean I’m not too familiar with. Dang.

Overeem is yet to have an opponent announced and Ninja is off completly.

  14. 45 Huddle says:

I’m surprised that Alan is getting negative comments for his Randleman comment. Randleman has been shot for years. He is a mental and technical wreck.

  15. Brad Wharton says:

I’m surprised that Alan is getting negative comments for his Randleman comment. Randleman has been shot for years. He is a mental and technical wreck.

Seconded. I’m all for ‘respecting the legends’ etc…but if guys like Randleman and Ken Shamrock had any respect for themselves, they’d bow out gracefully.

Maybe it’s not our right to say when someone should stop doing the thing they love, but as a fan I don’t want to see anyone get hurt or worse.

  16. Alan Conceicao says:

I’m not even arguing whether or not he should be allowed to fight, though I seriously question that as well given his history. I’m just telling the truth. He’s a beat up old guy with a less than glowing future in this sport. He’s an opponent now. Nothing more. I’m sure he knows it too.

  17. The Gaijin says:

My only guess as to why there’s any friction over the Randleman comments is because he hasn’t been getting destroyed or taking giant beatings in his fights as of late. Don’t get me wrong – he’s looked terrible, but he hasn’t taken any cringe worthy beatings (yet).

  18. Brad Wharton says:

‘Yet’ is the opperative word here. He’s looked terrible against some seriously mediocre opposition in Kawamura and Whitehead, nearly got his leg ripped off by Shogun (although by all accounts was too full of pain meds to feel it) and was able to do absolutly nothing against Fatih Kocamis in a fight that literally killed the live crowd for the rest of the evening (but did give me a couple of chances to get more beer and burgers).

Thats all well and good if he’s going to continue fighting mediocre guys. If Strikeforce want to start throwing him to the Mousasi’s of this world, thats when interventions need to be made.

  19. The Gaijin says:

    @ Brad,

Full agreement. Just doing a little devil’s advocate here.

I definitely see where the concern lies for him if he starts getting pitted against the mid-to-upper tier of current fighters, but I can see the “he needs to feed his family and he’s not taking undue punishment” perspective for continuing to take on mediocre fighters and coasting on his name value.

  20. The Gaijin says:

DREAM 12 – Rumoured HW bout:

    Alistair Overeem vs. James Thompson.

Clearly AO needed a bit of a warm-up fight after a really tough, top 10 test against Tony Sylvester. Clearly this top 10 fighter is serious about taking on the best fighters in the world outside the UFC.

  21. Brad Wharton says:

I don’t know what he’s doing fighting twice in 8 days when he’s got the K-1 finals comming up in just over a month…

If I had to fight Teixeira, then most likely Hari, then either Bonjasky or Schilt in the finals, I’d be tucked away in the gym, not risking injury in ‘gimmie’ fights.

  22. The Gaijin says:

Easy bread I would assume? He will PLOW through Thompson – could probably standing guillotine him w/out even having to throw a punch and risk injuring his hands.

  23. Brad Wharton says:

Could also give Strikeforce some good highlight reel footage of him in the cage knocking out “that big dude with the ear that Kimbo fought” to promote the eventual Fedor fight with.
