iPhones, net phones, and software
By Zach Arnold | May 6, 2009

I am testing out a plug-in that will allow this site (and other sites I run) to be viewed easily on iPhones and other net phones. So far, so good… but with posts only, not pages. A lot of my themes and site designs are page-reliant in terms of displaying information. For WordPress users, do you know of any mobile phone themes/plugins/apps that I could use or integrate into this site that would allow for a page-heavy theme to look better on a mobile phone? Please let me know.
I will try to integrate the plug-in I am currently working on (a posts-only plugin) in a couple of days, so if you enjoy reading this site you will be able to do so on your mobile phone — albeit the features that you like on the site (the automated headlines) will have to be viewed in normal web-browsing mode on your phone.
I’m somewhat new to trying to modifying themes to work on mobile phones, so if you can help me out — please do so. All of these improvements are being made to make your life easier, which in turn makes my life easier, too.

Another thing you may want to try out is MoFuse (http://www.mofuse.com/). It uses your RSS feed to create a mobile site for the iPhone specifically as well as non-iPhone mobile browsers. It has a wordpress plugin so it can automatically redirect your readers using mobile browsers to the mobile site. They host it and offer advertising options plus you can map it to a subdomain of your site, such as m.fightopinion.com.
I tried out some wordpress plugins first but found this to be a better solution as it not only has support for comments but also converts pages you specify into mobile-friendly versions.
If you have any questions on setting it up let me know, but this is what I ended up going with after trying a lot of other solutions.
I use a G1 and would be more than happy to test anything you need.
I have an iPhone, and your site works great as is. If you hold it horizontally, it’s probably one of the best MMA sites for the iPhone.
One thing you might want to do is an app. Wade Keller does one for the torch. Although I don’t subscribe to it, it has a great look.
I use Opera Mobile and it looks OK in landscape, mainly because Opera Mobile does scaling well. In IE it is a different story.

I sent you an email to your hotmail.
I’ve been viewing your site (and posting with awful typos) on the iPhone for almost a year now w/out problem.
Not sure what’s so funny about that Zack. Anderson wins it easily if he takes it to the ground, but he never would. He’d make it a straight boxing match, and it’d have the potential to do extreme damage to MMA’s image. I can just see the headlines: “Over the hill boxer beats the UFC’s best fighter under MMA rules.”
If they approved that fight, I’d lose all respect for Zuffa.
