Ultimate Bet: Hey, look at us, we’re better than Full Tilt Poker

By Zach Arnold | April 7, 2009

Print Friendly and PDF

Here’s their press release talking about sponsoring Chuck Liddell at UFC 97.

Bluff Magazine pointed out a very interesting tidbit about Full Tilt Poker/UFC:

The speed with which the two companies switched places could lead to an interesting scenario in Montreal. For the past two months Full Tilt has been running a series of freerolls for Canadian players that would see them travel by train with Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren and Gavin Smith to see UFC 97. Given the relatively quick notice it is unlikely that Full Tilt would cancel their promotion.

That’s right – Lederer, Lindgren, and Smith were allegedly going to be at UFC 97. Now with UB in the fold, one can only hope that we’ll get Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke at live events.

Bud Light, Harley Davidson, & Ultimate Bet sure as heck beats Mickey’s, Xyience, and Joe’s Tire Barn.

I think we are still years away (if ever) from seeing bigger corporate sponsors. With that said, there has been increased improvement over the last 3 to 5 years.

  2. Fluyid says:

Isn’t Bud about as big as it can get? I guess Coca Cola or something like that is bigger, but Bud is pretty damned good.

  3. Jemaleddin says:

I’ll take Annie Duke over her brother any day, and having Phil at an event could end with him in the cage. That would of course, be the most awesome thing ever to happen and would result in the immediate start of Armageddon, but it’d be worth it.

  4. Ivan Trembow says:

I could not agree more with this quote from Joe Rogan on AOL Fanhouse:

“First of all, I think Lyoto Machida’s last fight was very, very exciting — that Thiago Silva knockout was just spectacular. Lyoto is so good at avoiding danger, and he inflicts a lot of it. … I think he’s very, very impressive. I love that style. I love the style of taking the least amount of damage. I think that’s the smart way to fight. …The most intelligent way to fight is the way Machida fights. … I prefer watching guys fight intelligently.”

  5. Zack says:

I’d prefer Mickey’s & the Tire Barn to Ultimate Bet…at least they aren’t crooks. Xyience? Hey, we’ve been down that road.
