Strikeforce plans for April & May

By Zach Arnold | March 12, 2009

Print Friendly and PDF

You can always count on Nick Diaz to make a wacky challenge, as he did to fight Frank Shamrock’s son who is in college. Here are some quotes from today’s presser in Southern California.

UFC will answer the Strikeforce 4/11 San Jose show by airing the UFC January 31st event (Georges St. Pierre vs. BJ Penn) on Spike TV.

  1. Chuck says:

The 4/11 show is looking very solid. Can’t wait! Oh, and I would like to see Diaz vs. Shamrock’s kid.

  2. Ivan Trembow says:

Well, so much for the notion that the UFC wouldn’t counter-program Strikeforce in a predatory fashion if Strikeforce said all the right things publicly and none of the wrong things.

  3. 45 Huddle says:

Two Showtime shows…. Two Catchweight Main Events. Why even have weight classes in Strikeforce? Let’s just do everything open weight.

And for the people who will come back saying Franklin/Silva is at a catchweight… I’m not a fan of that either. And Zuffa currently has 13 events scheduled for the first half of 2009, and only one main event is a catch weight.

  4. Wolverine says:

4/11 is also Bellator debut, I’m curious whether it also has sth to do with ufc counterprogamming

  5. robthom says:

Lol @ “No, and I don’t have no [expletive] dressy suits either,”…

Hopefully if he can pull out a bizarre apparent mismatch like this it puts Diaz back on the map like beating Lawler did back in the day.
