  1. 45 Huddle says:

This card has the potential to be very entertaining. Despite a less then stellar main event, the card on paper yells fireworks.

  2. A. Taveras says:

Looks like a solid card. I’m so glad it’s free as I might decide to pay for Cotto and Pavlik’s outings against contenders. I used to hate when they scheduled boxing and MMA against each other but the last couple of times it has been one event free and the other paid. That’s more acceptable and it makes for a great night for a combat fan armed with TiVo.

  3. ttt says:

    Gouveia looks like good value

  4. Jeremy (not that Jeremy) says:

Struve is the fighter that no one knows who probably has 50/50 or better to win that fight, so that’s a value bet. Then again, I’m not a better, so what do I know.

  5. 45 Huddle says:

6’11”, 240 lbs…. Struve is. That is like a skinny Semmy Schilt, which I didn’t think was possible.

  6. Kelvin says:

This will be an entertaining card.

  7. Jim Allcorn says:

So, looking a bit ahead …

Dana’s tabbed St Pierre vs Alves & Hendo vs Bisping thus far for 100?
    Well, pardon me, but “meh”.

I realize that there will likely be a lot more added to the card to bring more attention to it & mark the occasion, but thus far, I’m less than thrilled with it.

It’s too bad that Zuffa has such a shitty relationship with Shammy these days or maybe we’d get to see the long awaited grudge match between Ken & Tank Abbott on show 100.

    Just for laughs, of course.

Seeing how fragile both men are these days, the match up is bound to end as soon as one of them lands a solid blow on the other’s chin/jaw.
Though that hasn’t stopped Shamrock from dreaming that the match up is a PPV worthy main event. Gag!

Seriously though, for UFC 100, they almost HAVE to have a “legends” bout of some sort. It just seems like a natural fit for a celebratory event of it’s kind.
Though, really, now that I think of it, Royce Gracie should really be the “old timer” that they invite to participate on the card. Though I don’t know who his opponent should be.
It’s a tough pick because it’ll have to be someone that won’t have a problem getting sanctioned to fight Gracie, but also someone who won’t be way too much for Gracie to handle at this late stage of his career. Someone that gives the icon a fair chance at exiting the UFC a victor.

  8. Brandt says:

Ken and Tank will be fighting for Wargods later this year. April, I believe.

  9. IceMuncher says:

Jim, I hate the idea of a “legends” fight, unless Nog vs Couture counts as one, in which case there exists a single exception. I get no enjoyment from watching an out of shape legend go out there and perform like a shadow of his former self. No other sport does anything like it, they have them flip a coin or throw out the first pitch.

Also, unless something huge and unexpected happens (like Fedor joins the UFC), GSP vs Alves is likely going to be my most anticipated UFC title fight for the rest of the year. That fight is a great start to the UFC 100 show, especially when Dana has gone on record saying that it wasn’t the main event.
