GSP via 3rd tko.
I don’t think BJ has as much for GSP as people think. I predict GSP will use his size, strength, reach, and rasslin’ to keep BJ at bay, and will wear him down until he (GSP) can unleash a hellacious beating forcing Herb Dean to step on and save him.
GSP/R3/TKO
I’m going to steal spacedog’s answer.
Both men are equally skilled on their feet, on the ground, are in their prime, and have killer 24/7 training routines…the only criteria I have left to judge them on is genetics.
GSP will come into the fight, conservatively, 15+ pounds heavier. He’s taller, stronger, possibly faster, and could very well have better cardio.
And if Herb Dean sees anyhing even remotely close to a ‘hellacious beating’ he’ll have no problem stopping the fight ASAP.
That man would stop a fight over a hangnail.
GSP submission, 2nd round.
GSP by lay & pray
GSP will eventually overpower BJ. R4 TKO.
What are the prizes Zach?
GSP 5th round TKO
Also I’d like to add a buy rate prediction.
I think this event will shatter UFC’s buy rate record. I think it’ll do 1.3 million buys.
Penn by sub in the 4th round.
GSP in the fourth. It looks like GSP is the best he has ever been and BJ is fighting above his best weight class.
GSP with a decisive win.
BJ Penn via sub/TKO R3
I think this is the fight of Penn’s life & he’ll rise to the occasion with perhaps his best performance ever.
Penn sub 2nd
This is tied with Mirko-Fedor as my most anticipated fight since I began to watch MMA back in 1995.
– BJ Penn
– Submission stemming from a mistake made by GSP while panicking under Penn’s ground and pound
– 2nd or 3rd round
Bj penn
submission
2nd round
GSP 3rd TKO
GSP, UD 49-46. I hope I’m wrong.
“This is tied with Mirko-Fedor as my most anticipated fight since I began to watch MMA back in 1995.”
Really? It’s a rematch, and the first fight wasn’t even that exciting. It’s not like either guy was sorry then and is much improved…they were both awesome 3 years ago.
If BJ wins, it freezes the belt of the best division in MMA longer than it already has been. If GSP wins, he simply beat a smaller fighter for the 2nd time. I don’t see huge ramifications either way, although if BJ wins in exciting fashion, I bet the swing bout could set records.
Darn it, I predicted GSP by 3rd Round TKO as well…. Already put that pick into the UFC Fantasy Website a few days agao!!
“It’s not like either guy was sorry then and is much improved…they were both awesome 3 years ago.”
I think GSP has improved a lot since then, and if BJ is in shape he’ll automatically be twice the fighter he was the last time they fight. It’ll be the first fight on steroids.
GSP – Round 3 – brutality
GSP
Round 3
SUBMISSION!
Round 1:
GSP will patiently pick BJ apart on the feet without hurrying for a take down. If GSP does take it down, BJ will scare him off with a submission attempt from the rubber guard. This will remind GSP to stick to his gameplan and stand back up
Round 2: Total slugfest as BJ gets angry and a little desperate, and he starts swinging. Close round, and GSP’s face gets marked up, but BJ is breathing heavy and dropping his hands
Round 3: BJ gases, GSP takes it down, and pounds BJ’s face to bits, while Yamasaki callously allows the fight to continue. GSP has mercy and submits BJ with an armbar or kimura
BJ getting submitted? You’re insane dude.
BJ Penn, TKO, Round 3
GSP/TKO/R5
GSP via decision
GSP Unanimous Decision
[…] forget to make your predictions for the main […]
GSP R4 ground and pound ftw
Ends in a draw after GSP grabs the cage losing points trying to avoid BJ’s takedown after beign up on the cards otherwise.
BJ by submission, R2 to 3. Second choice is GSP by decision.
BJ will win by submission after stunning him three minutes into the fight.
gsp by 4rth rnd tko.
Bj Penn wins by TKO Rd 2, 2:24
Penn, submission rd 2. Huge fan of GSP, I just think Penn will catch him with a punch and rnc him.
FF
Gah. I’m changing my prediction. Someone will get injured and this fight will end in a no contest. I’m betting BJ trips walking into the cage and gets knocked unconscious.
