WEC 1/25 San Diego Sports Arena
By Zach Arnold | January 25, 2009

Amazingly, the NHL All-Star Game from Montreal will be the lead-in for this show on Versus. The card line-up:
Dark matches
- 155 pounds: Ben Henderson vs. Anthony Njokuani
- 170 pounds: Edgar Garcia vs. Hiromitsu Miura
- 145 pounds: Dominick Cruz vs. Ian McCall
- 135 pounds: Scott Jorgensen vs. Frank Gomez
- 170 pounds: Bias Avena vs. Jesse Lennox
- 135 pounds: Charlie Valencia vs. Seth Dikun
Main card
- 155 pounds: Jamie Varner vs. Donald Cerrone
- 145 poundS: Urijah Faber vs. Jens Pulver
- 170 pounds: Danillo Villefort vs. Mike Campbell
- 145 pounds: Jose Aldo vs. Rolando Perez
Update: Todd Harris is doing coverage for ESPN of the Winter X Games, so there will likely be a replacement lead announcer on the TV telecast with Frank Mir. Craig Hummer?

Shows you how bad hockey is doing right now.
Very good free card, despite the pointless Faber/Pulver 2.
Hope that all-star game doesn’t run long. Guess that’s pretty unlikely.
Why are they doing a Faber/Pulver rematch? The first fight was good, but Faber won just about every match and bith guys are coming off KO losses. Oh well, should be fun.
Sorry, I meant to say Faber won every ROUND. My bad.
Why are they doing a rematch? To draw a crowd in CA and to get ratings on TV. Nothing more, nothing less.
It is really the most pointless rematch I can think of in MMA during the past few years. Faber will likely get a title shot from this win, which is pathetic. This should not be a #1 Contender Fight.
The event is 10 minutes from my house and I scored free tickets. I couldn’t be more stoked.
That sucks (about Harris not being there). Harris and Mir usually do a very good job. I wonder who the replacement will be.
Also, the NHL All-Star Game is actually scheduled to end at about 9:00 PM, and they’ve built in a 30-minute buffer with Sports Soup scheduled to air from 9:00 to 9:30. That way, even if the All-Star Game runs 30 minutes long, they can still start the WEC broadcast as scheduled at 9:30. Hopefully, if the All-Star Game runs long, Versus wouldn’t actually air Sports Soup and push back the WEC show by 30 minutes.
I doubt they would. Actually, I assume they are hoping not to air Sports Soup in between as going right from Hockey to the WEC is better for ratings.
You also have to factor in the little awards ceremony for the ASG MVP after the game is over too. I believe the Sports Soup thing is only a hockey-related quick highlight reel and not an actual show.
Either way, the ASG coverage is going to run past 9 PM ET but I highly doubt that Sports Soup would affect a live WEC show.
Are they seriously delaying the start of WEC to show this trash?
Yikes.
I was way off. This is dumb.
