Monday, October 20th, 2008

Multiple reports claim that Elite XC has closed up shop and is out of the MMA business for good. Not good news for Kimbo Slice or Gina Carano. Dave Meltzer claims that the ‘stand-up scandal’ involving Seth Petruzelli and Kimbo Slice concerned CBS and that CBS will not buy Elite XC.

Media reaction to UFC 89

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

Interesting to note that a lot of the British newspapers that covered the heat-up for Bisping vs. Leben didn’t cover the UFC 89 event at all in their Sunday newspapers. The Canadian Press: England’s Michael Bisping wins decision over Chris Leben at UFC 89 The Sun (UK): Michael Bisping – I’ve not earnt title shot […]

K-1: Hey, maybe Yoshihiro Akiyama won’t fight on NYE for us

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

I love how K-1 plays out any sort of bad news coming from their camp — they send out former PRIDE PR guy Sasahara to deliver it. Big fighter cancelation for a DREAM show or anything MMA-related? Have Sasahara deliver some bad news to the Japanese media. And make sure it happens a lot at […]

MMA Junkie: Jeremy Lappen ‘excited’ about Elite XC’s future

Friday, October 17th, 2008

Unless I drop dead shortly, I have a strong feeling that Fight Opinion has a stronger future than whatever is in store for Elite XC. In retrospect, Lappen said he also proud of both Petruzelli and Slice. While many fans and journalists have cried, “Foul,” over a possible bonus paid to Petruzelli to keep the […]

Dave Meltzer’s comment on UFC bonuses

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Cryptic, evasive, whatever you want to call it (from this week’s Wrestling Observer newsletter — go subscribe if interested): UFC has all sorts of bonuses, some that you hear about and most that you don’t. So, name them. Why mention this item in this week’s newsletter and then not go into detail with your paying […]

Any interest in UFC 89?

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

The LA Times has been adding more and more MMA-related blog posts on their web site. A message to LAT: I would be happy to add the RSS feed of MMA-related blog posts onto this site, but your blog RSS feeds only grab ‘all posts’ as opposed to giving the reader the option of only […]

What we’re reading right now

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

If you notice that the site is a little ‘buggy’ today, it’s because we’re updating the software on our end to be able to process everything as smoothly as possible.
