Will Thiago Alves be able to make weight?
By Zach Arnold | October 22, 2008

Not such a stupid question, given that he failed to make weight in his fight against Matt Hughes (and was totally given a pass for doing so in most media circles). He’s at 181 pounds now — can he make weight for the fight against Josh Koscheck?

I think he’ll make weight, Alves isn’t the male version of Gina Carano. I mean he’s only missed weight once if I’m not mistaken and the reason he provided was rational. I mean I do think it would be pretty tough to do cardio and the necessary things to cut weight with a bum ankle.
(yes, I’m aware he was busted for diurectics in the past)
Josh Koscheck is walking at around the same weight. So this shouldn’t be an issue.
With that said, if he doesn’t make weight a second time, he needs to fight at Middleweight.
11 pounds with a few days to spare, no problem, unless he has already dropped 20 lbs since monday. lol!
He’ll make weight. 11 pounds in a few days is NOTHING to cut. You can do that in a day by dehydration and still be in good shape for the fight.
He’ll probably make weight. He has a history of it.

he’s right where he is supposed to be 11 pounds over day before weighins. He’ll drink 2 gallons of distiller water today and wake up around 176 or so tomorrow mining then cut he final 5lbs and step on the scale.
