Gina Carano’s weighty issues

By Zach Arnold | September 25, 2008

Print Friendly and PDF

She’s mad as hell and isn’t going to take it any more!

Carano said she has hired a nutritionist and added, “I’ve got really high expectations for this weigh-in.”

When’s the last time you heard a fighter say, “I’ve got really high expectations” for a weigh-in?

In an interview with UGO, Carano addressed the topic of her critics:

I think that anybody that has ever met me, or trained with me hasn’t really had anything negative to say. I don’t hide myself. I haven’t bullsh*tted anybody about me. If they want to believe in what somebody else is using as a marketing tool, instead of seeing the person as a whole, that’s their own problem. Sometimes people hate because of ignorance. They don’t really know any better and they listen to what the majority of people are saying.

  1. David says:

She got high, and suddenly has expectations for a weigh in… lol

  2. Ultimo Santa says:

I’ve got high expectations as well…hopefully Gina will be JUST over the weight limit, have to remove her clothing, and get her trainers to hold a towel in place while she stands on the scale.

    That would be SWEET.

  3. pauli says:

my expectations for her weigh in are a few pounds high as well.

  4. Kelvin says:

Ok, she’s not as smart as I gave her credit for.

  5. brashleyholland says:

Gina’s opponant should refuse the fight out of principle if Gina comes in overweight.

It might be career suicide as far as Elite XC goes, but I doubt the will be arround for a massive ammount of time anyway.

  6. The Citizen says:

Now with Arlovski – Nelson on the card, this night might be a bit sweeter — more inspiration for Gina to make weight. I hope she can do it this time.

  7. ilostmydog says:

Some sportsbooks should put odds on this.

  8. pauli says:

    that’s an excellent point.

fightlinker, you’re reading this. talk to that sketchy sponsor of yours. MAKE IT HAPPEN.

  9. Ivan Trembow says:

From listening to the teleconference, she wasn’t mad at all about the weight questions. The reaction was somewhere between mildly annoyed and mildly amused that there were so many questions about that, but not mad.
