Josh Barnett statement on CBS rumors
By Zach Arnold | September 24, 2008
In response to a report on Bloody Elbow tonight, Josh Barnett has released the following statement:
I read somewhere that I had declined the fight because I would have had to take a pay cut. I suppose others may also formulate some story about me declining the fight for other reasons.
I never decelned to take this fight. I was never told that I would have any part of my pay reduced since working with Affliction. To my knowledge, no one has been asked to take a pay cut that fights for Affliction.
I did not turn down this fight.

No one has a better chance of beating Fedor than Barnett – I hope we see this happen, and soon.
how long ago did he say this, i swear i heard this quote at least a month ago.
He said something very similar about a month ago, when there were rumors that Affliction was asking its fighters to take a pay cut.
Isn’t it kind of goofy to say you won’t take a paycut, then turn around and take a fight with a struggling Japan fight promotion that won’t dish out anywhere near the amount of money his Affliction contract pays? That’s kind of taking a paycut, isn’t it?
Well, yes and no…I think it’s more like taking a bonus paycheck, but you could look at it like a pay cut.
Poor Josh. At least the lolz keep on coming from BE.

Barnett loooooves him some Japan, so that he would go over there to fight seems logical to me. I mean, look. He “fought” Jeff Monson in what looked to be a sparring match intended to not hurt either man earlier this year and he probably got paid a good chunk of change for it. He’ll probably get some bum or Fujita to fight and make a few bucks for not much work and not much danger.

Dave, your site is inundated with errors, breathtakingly poor analysis and redundant news coverage (to put it charitably). The only difference is that you get away with it because no one reads your site. Keep up the good work, champ.
Maybe in the future we will become a copy and paste link depot as well to compete, you never know! The internet needs dozens more of those.
Maybe also get on board with using pro wrestling analysis and terminology, as well as take ourselves extremely seriously. You never do know.
Serious. Business.

Was just doing some bankruptcy research at work and saw this little tidbit.
Looks like HDNet just purchased IFL’s assets for $650k and assumptions of debt.
Not sure what they’re going to really do with it given that all of their top fighters have headed to greener pastures. I guess they can now use the library for programming.
I wanna see Dave and Luke box.
Barnett keeps getting the shaft — this sucks. Fedor Barnett or Overeem versus either one of those guys would be cool. I’d like to see Arlovski get knocked out by Roy.
Kelvin — only for charity.
