Those ‘last days of PRIDE’ feelings are back…

By Zach Arnold | August 22, 2008

Print Friendly and PDF

That was my first reaction when reading this article. At least PRIDE went out with a bang on their last few shows (except the very last one with Jeff Monson beating Kazuyuki Fujita).

  1. zack says:

Pride actually went out with a fizzle. 34 was a terrible show with a non-main event.

  2. Jeremy (not that Jeremy) says:

What? Are you saying that Don Frye and Jeff Monson couldn’t carry a card πŸ™‚

  3. 45 Huddle says:

The more I see and read of Loretta Hunt, the less I am a fan.

I think a lot of what EliteXC is saying right now sounds nice, but has no basis. Unless CBS wants to put a lot of money into the company, it is just a sitting duck.

  4. zack says:

The best part of 34 was Don Frye’s post fight interview. He’s my fav fighter of all time other than Sakuraba, but the Thompson fight was a total bummer.

  5. IceMuncher says:

    From the article:

β€œIt’s not up Dion to decide who the number-one contender is,” says Lappen. β€œWe decide what the title fights are… Diaz earned his rematch”

This scenario is one I’ve been dreading. The problems are too reminiscent of boxing. All the fighters have different ideas of what they want to do and who they want to fight. The UFC had the same problem with Tito for years and most recently with Randy.

If KJ continues to refuse a fight or goes back into boxing, EliteXC should just strip him. Nobody will really notice anyway.
