The Affliction web traffic boom

Our traffic numbers on the site increased 50% over the course of the weekend of July 19th (18th Fri, 19th Sat, 20th Sunday).
Well, at least we know the hardcore MMA fans online were excited.
To put the traffic #’s into context… usually in the Summer months, traffic takes a real nosedive (especially because the primary audience for MMA is in the 18-34 year old age range, meaning a lot of university students, etc.) However, because the MMA season has been so active this Summer, traffic has not taken a nosedive at all. With the increased activity due to Affliction, the numbers for this past weekend were as good if not better than during peak MMA season.

Do you realize that your site is down for at least 6 hours of every day? Your traffic would be far higher if the site doesn’t crash once a day.
The punchlines that have already been said to me about this in the past… touche.
And I pay decent money as well.
I just got this message from my web hosting provider:
“I don’t see any extensive downtime for this server for the past 30 days.”
The server may not crash per se. However, when accessing the site, it continuously fetch data with nothing showing up. The host provider needs to have someone access the page to test it out.
I’ve had a lot of trouble accessing the site lately. It’s gotten to the point where I check out Sherdog for news sometimes.

Yep. I have to go to Fightlinker for my MMA fix. That’s really sad.
The downtimes seem to happen right at peak hours — when non-peak hours hit, it’s smooth sailing.
It’s an issue that is coming to a head very shortly.

Competition is good for the ufc. As far as the site being down, yes, 1/2 the time during a day it seems to not show up.
I gotta chime in with these guys too – I’d say I’m maybe 50% successful in accessing your sites these days. Your server needs to get their ass served to them b/c that’s ridiculous the amount of traffic you probably lose from the constant “downtimes” or whatever it is they wanna call it.
Yep. Gotta agree with the above posters. Most days when I try to access your site it will attempt to load but it goes very slow and then times out. I would take these testimonials to them as proof that there is downtime on this site.

Zach, it’s great to hear that your traffic figures are consistent. This is one of the few MMA websites I really enjoy visiting. The articles and maturity of your readership is above and beyond most websites covering MMA (ie. Sherdog, MMAJunkie, etc).
I have been meaning to email you too Zach.
I love your site but at least 30% of the time it does not load at all. And trust me, I try refreshing many times before giving up.
