Dana White channels the spirit of Vince McMahon, once again
By Zach Arnold | June 5, 2008

From an interview with ESPN the Magazine:
I gotta tell you, I was very, very disappointed in ESPN this past weekend. A 15-minute feature on SportsCenter about Kimbo Slice? That is embarrassing. It’s so bad I can’t even tell you. Then that show goes off. That guy he fought is a joke, and he went three rounds with Kimbo in a fight that shouldn’t have been stopped. When the major media outlets would rather follow freak shows instead of real athletes, it’s embarrassing. It just makes my life and job a whole lot harder. It’s already been exposed. But getting that kind of coverage on ESPN, and BJ Penn doesn’t?
Well, except for the fact that on Monday, ESPN personalities took turns ripping apart the Elite XC show on CBS. Plus, ESPN.com’s MMA internet program is heavily-focused on UFC content.
Got to get those media marching orders in quicker, boss.

Great counter points Zach, enlightening because he is truly full of shit. ESPN’s online show is mostly UFC-centered and Kimbo slice is indeed more marketable as an (mma) Fighter than a highly technical and equally scrappy BJ Penn.
God bless capital.
Think maybe he was talking about E:60’s feature on Slice which was re-shown during a sportscenter? Sounds like he was referring to something shown before the event.
Good points Zack, their coverage of the event was pretty well balanced I think.
Zach…in all do fairness, you’d be pretty pissed off if you had a girl’s name too.
Let the man rage a little.
Man, BJ Penn is marketable. This little crazy Hawaiian dude with a big mouth and a limitless skillset.
Anyone who doesn’t see huge marketing potential in BJ Penn is, err, blind I guess. Or something.
