Does Cage Rage even do drug testing?
Cage Rage started drug testing at their last event. Pro Elite made them do it. :p
“The guy sets a terrible example to the sport and to allow him to walk back in sets a worse one. It’s not how we would have handled the situation.”
Wasn’t it Cage Rage who brought in Vitor Belfort to fight, despite he being banned for a year for his drug violation?
^^^LOL. And that was in the middle of his suspension as well.
Gary Shaw on Frank Shamrock, responding to the claim that Anderson Silva is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world: “The best fighter in the world, hands down, bar none, is Frank Shamrock.”
LOL, I know that as a promoter you’ve got to exaggerate a bit to sell fights, but let’s not get carried away Mr. Shaw.
While it’s no doubt an exaggeration it’s no worse than tons of the ridiculous hyperbole that’s heard on every hype show and ppv for the UFC.
They referred to Frank Mir as “one of the most dominant HW’s of all time (before his accident).” [paraphrased]
In other news, after beating Bisping, Rashad is top 5 in the world @ 205.
Well, to be fair, before the accident, Mir was 8-1 and had just broken Tim Sylvia’s arm to become the UFC champ. He was looking pretty dominant back then and many thought he was the future of the division.
^ Yeah that is true, I’ll definitely concede that – but…I wouldn’t exactly call Wes Sims (x2), Tank and Traven the world’s best competition at the time either.
Either way, I think it’s safe to say promoters (and company men) are always going to be guilty to some extent of overhyping their fighters…I mean “promoter” kind of entails such duties.
