Koscheck is following the Ortiz model of being a douche while pumping up a useless clothing line
Iole is kind of a tool, isn’t he? His column on GSP was basically a smear job built off the chewbacca defense, but anybody who criticizes it is a keyboard warrior? The hypocrisy is rich.
Zuffa obviously has a lot of faith in Brandon Vera becoming a star because he is getting the semi-Main Event booking on the UFC 77 show. And this is after he has been inactive for almost a year.
I have a feeling that Rashad Evans vs. Tito Ortiz 2 is being moved to November because that show has no main event.
What did the Ohio fans do to deserve two helpings of Tim Sylvia in one year?
Zach,
It will all be worth it if he gets his teeth kicked in a second time. Which he will.
My dreams for the LHW division:
Rua/Griffin vs Ortiz/Evans for title shot vs Jackson/Henderson
Wanderlei Silva gets an easy first fight (as did CroCop, Anderson Silva, Nogueira and Rua), then fights Liddell/Jardine. Winner of that fight gets next title shot.
I’d expect Rua to beat Griffin, Ortiz to beat Evans, Jackson to beat Henderson, Rua to beat Ortiz, and Rua to beat Jackson for the title. Meanwhile Liddell would beat Jardine, beat Wanderlei Silva, and lose to Rua, the undisputed as LHW champ.
Henderson can move to MW, defeat Franklin (who’d have just lost to Anderson Silva for the 2nd time), and challenge Silva for the MW belt. That one’s hard to predict….
“I have a feeling that Rashad Evans vs. Tito Ortiz 2 is being moved to November because that show has no main event.”
I hope not. Besides, Tito has said he wants to fight in Vegas. I hope the UFC makes him happy.
We have BJ Penn v Mr X so far as a main event, which isn’t bad, but it needs more. I have a feeling Dana will convince Cro Cop and Nog to move their fight to November. Silva could fight in Newark if he wants to. And maybe Hendo will make his first defence of the LHW title at 78
“Tito has said he wants to fight in Vegas. I hope the UFC makes him happy.”
I agree with this sentiment.
Not to Sherdog it up here, but Tito sucks. Balls.
Other than using Tito in a veteran stepping stone kind of role, I don’t see why UFC needs to go out of their way to keep him happy? Unless they don’t want him getting pissy and jumping to a group like EXC or Strikforce.
Tito isn’t really a top tier fighter anymore, and I don’t see him showing much interest in fighting the top guys. You’ve now got Shogun, Silva, Henderson, and Quinton Jackson all fighting at 205lbs in UFC. I don’t think he wants any part of those guys. I think his role at 205lbs in UFC is now that of a solid veteran who can provide a younger fighter with a good platform to establish himself to a mainstream audience. I don’t see him being part of title picture again, although anything can happen.
The UFC needs to go out of their way to keep Tito as he is one of their main draws, with a money mouth and some mainstream recognition.
